3 months, 2000km, first Buell ('04 XB12S). Engine rotated, aft head removed, said O-rings nackered. All parts in hand. Is there any reason NOT to lube the O-rings slightly with hi-temp silicone grease before replacing the head, just to assure a proper seating of the O-rings? I would hate to do this wrong, and have to repeat it, as they seem vulnerable to assembly blunders. |

We've always had they practice of wiping a little oil on seals the keep them from binding during install. |

Put a little smear of RTV around the outside tops of the pushrod tubes before you put the rocker boxes back on. |

All back together, and oil tight, finally. Used a light smear of silicone grease on top of the pushrod covers, and took great care aligning it all before torqueing it down. Thank you both for your feedback. |
