Saro, You and Loli missed a fun putt through the mountains. About as big a group as we have had since I've been participating. Quite a few new faces and a few more people signed up for our track day in Pahrump at Spring Mountain Motorsports Park on Memorial day. Police radar guns were in operation and we (well...most of us) were keeping it pretty cool as far as speeds edited by slaughter on March 29, 2004 |

Paging Scott Page. Is there supposed to be a SCAB meeting tonight? There've been no emails, calls or postings. Is this thing on? |

Sparky, don't feel like you're the only one who got caught. I'm sitting here thinking DANG and I never make it to a SCAB meeting. Maybe it was a typo - this was the Southern CA Association of Motorcyclists - SCAM meeting |

In that light, from Fread at SD Sportfighters: Just a friendly reminder about tonights (4/05/04)meeting at 7 oclock at o harleys pub in poway. see you all there. fread finnerty

Tickets go on sale the 16th - first play date is the 23rd. Arclight will reserve seats online (when the tickets have gone on sale.) ATTENTION ALL INTERESTED IN A TRACK DAY!! Golden State BRAG has put together a great deal for a two day track day with Sport Bike Track Time in Pahrump, Nevada on Memorial Day Weekend - 29th and 30th of May!!! You can get both days for $245, normal price is closer to $275 for the 2-day package. In order to get the discount, we have an official BRAG form (PDF) that we'd be glad to email to you. We also have arranged kinda special rates with the Pahrump Nugget at $50 per night. So far, we have over 20!!! signed up so don't feel like you'd be a loner out there! If you have EVER thought about doing a track day, you could hardly pick a better time to do it. To further sweeten the deal, Todd Robinson (manager, Western Region Operations - Sportbike Track Time) has agreed to provide one instructor for every rider signed up through our BRAG group. To further sweeten it, those of us NOT using the instructors are STILL added into the tally - meaning you are probably going to see much lower than 10:1 Student:Instructor ratio. I have heard too many riders saying "I'm not fast" or "I'm not experienced enough" - NONSENSE!!! My ladyfriend had not been street riding in over 30 years and went to her first track day with 1000 miles on her bike and was told by ALL the instructors that they'd wished MORE RIDERS would come out BEFORE they develop all the bad habits on the street. It's NOT about going fast but riding WELL and not worrying about traffic, speeding tickets and just getting to know your machine in predictable, controlled circumstances. You will have good access to instructors. They'll be conducting briefings before and after your track sessions and will be riding with you on the track. They will both follow you (to observe and also find your speed/comfort level) and then lead you for a lap or two at a speed they know you are comfortable going. They'll talk with you in the class afterwards. They can also take requests and will watch for specifics if asked. They'll also leave you alone too! Of course, there's no requirement to take the class sessions but I bet after the first time you do, you'll probably always want to sign up for the instruction on future track days simply because you gain so much. If you want more info - feel free to contact me directly - or if you want the sign-up form, let me know and I can email it to you. steve.slaughter@lmco.com For info on Sport Bike Track Time: http://www.sportbiketracktime.com I know we'll be seeing a few of you who have already signed up, but if you have ever thought about it, now's your chance! We're also going to try to help coordinate ride-sharing - there may be space available in a truck or trailer. If a bunch of you wanted to ride up, we're going to be mostly heading up Friday afternoon so you can count on a "support vehicle" coming behind you. Stay tuned - more info will be posted here as it becomes available. |

By the way, a bunch of us will be bringing enough tools along that you'll be able to fix most of the "little things" that might need fixing at the track. That way if you DO ride up, you don't have to take a backpack of tools! Also if you are riding up and want us to carry gear up for you, let us know. There's bound to be trunk, trailer or truck bed space for your gear! We have at least 10 vehicles going up -trucks, vans, trailers. Also remember, this will be the DESERT!! Even though Sport Bike Track Time provides all the water you can drink, you NEED to be aware of your hydration!!! I can't overemphasize this one point! Come on out and have fun with the mob! See the Golden State BRAG Race Buell - Lavin-Yurassov Racing XB9/12 in it's first public outing! |

Shawn, Heck yeah! One day is fine. Can't remember what the cost is. I've got that info on the application. I have the application form at work and can email you a copy. The fees are outlined there. We have a few others only doing one day. If I remember, it's something like $155 for all fees for the one day.

If I can get Saturday off work (I know its Memorial day weekend but work is insane right now) I'll head out Friday night, if not Saturday afternoon, I have a Jeep and little trailer, in case anyone needs me to haul anything. |

Lavin-Yurassov Racing Endurance team needs you! Hutch already expressed interest but we're looking for a few more people to help in the pits on race practice and race day in Fontana for the 6-hour race. We are having an organizational meeting at Willow Springs on Club race weekend on May 15th (Saturday) - also that is the first night of the 50 mile SOLO GT series races so it'll be fun to be there to spectate (unfortunately, I'll still be racing the Suzuki unless we get the new engine tuning and suspension work done on the Buell before then). Captain Fread Finnerty will be going over pit assignments at that time and if any of you are interested in helping out - fee free to email me or respond here and certainly, be at Willow in 5 weeks for the last meeting before the race in June. We will be doing race and pit practice at least one time on the bike before the race practice day in Fontana and will also have the bike up in Pahrump. As always, thanks to the Golden State BRAG club for the incredible support! Thanks to Ernie, Oliver, and Mario at Glendale HD/Buell for letting us get away with this! Hopefully, we'll have the Lavin-Yurassov Racing team flag up and flying by that time so you'll have no difficulty finding our pits. We are pitting with the Bartels HD race team (Eric Pinson) and Tim and Candice are there with the S1 race bike. This is usually behind the grandstands on the west side of the paddock. Can't miss us! We're in this for fun - and ONLY FUN. Once we are sure we are safe and rehearsed in all our operations, we intend to go out and have a rip-roaring good time! (and if you've ever heard a 1200 motor pushing 110 horses thru a Beson exhaust, you'll know we mean ROARING! Thanks a BUNCH! Fast Fread Finnerty - Captain Chris Matty Steve Slaughter Tim Hurley THE CREW!!! (so far) Candice Hurley Sunny Clarkson Steve Brefka Daryl Hutchins Jeremy Louis Ernie Snair Kelly Baker's Performance Unlimited And the whole Glendale HD/Buell Golden State BRAG Club!!! HELP!! NEED CARILLO RODS FOR XB9!! Daaaang near an emergency!! We have our race motor down at Bartels for case boring and crank balancing and just found out today we have the WRONG Carillo rods!! Apparently Carillo sent us the XB12 rod set, NOT the XB9. They do not have any XB9 rods in stock so we need to find some SOMEWHERE - and in a hurry! We have to get the bike built and can't proceed with the case boring and crank balancing until we get the right connecting rods. Carillo is running 2-3 months right now so we are appealing to anybody who MIGHT know of a source for Carillo rods for the XB9 - we need 7.270 inch center-to-center!! NOT the rods for the 1200 motor!! (we are bored to 1200 but have short-stroke of the stock XB9 motor) This is dang near an emergency as we are committed to race the WERA 6-hour in Fontana in June with a tune-up race at Willow Springs -- and there's just no freaking way we'll survive on the stock rods!! (maybe I can set the rev limit down to 7,000!) Looking for any inspiration anybody can offer. WE're going to call S&S tomorrow. Second choice but better than stock. HELL(P)!! Email me directly at steve.slaughter@lmco.com (day) qed2@mindspring.com (home) |

Well - race bike is happy. WE're sticking with stock rods, lightening and balancing the crank but keeping the redline at 7500 (for now) That'll get us on the road in plenty of time for the Pahrump track day and then for the 6-hour in Fon-Tucky! |
