The auction is the same place as last time, but the location is the Milwaukee Athletic Club. There's a hearing scheduled for Monday December 14 to approve the results of the auction; that'll be at the courthouse.

That could mean great things for Erik Buell's designs. But I'd venture that it is the end of any brand with the Buell name attached.

Too many unknowns. Time will tell.....

I sort of hope someone like Polaris will pick them up at this point. Even if they can get back into production, the dealer network seems pretty splintered.

Bruce made a remark on facebook that EBR remains intact so that is a good thing IMO. Now we just have to wait and see what intact really means.

Actually I want Bombardier, not Polaris, to be the winner as they own Rotax and Aprilia so it would be easy for them to do the engines, frames and such.

Bombardier

Nothing against Bruce, but I think they would be a better fit

I don't think Bombardier owns Aprilia. Aprilia is part of the Piaggio group, along with Moto Guzzi. I couldn't find anything that indicated Piaggio was controlled by Bombardier.

And according to Wiki, Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) was sold to Bain capital and the Bombardier family in 2003. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombardier_Inc.

I have no idea if that is all correct, it's just what Wikipedia says. My guess is that you really just meant "BRP" and not Bombardier, Inc.

Yes when I say Bombardier I mean BRP and I could be wrong about Aprilia but it was Rotax who made the 1125 engines so it would be a good fit to do the 1190s.

I hope it's VW. VW owns Ducati. They're loaded. And...bonus...no more worrying about emissions! Hello stock race exhaust!

VW loaded, LOL!
Loaded with problems after lying and cheating their way to the top. As a Detroiter by birth, I relish the self-inflicted hammering Hitler's car company is taking.

Like when GM saved a few pennies per car on a known ignition problem that killed people.

All car companies lie and cheat the system. And who can blame them with all the government nanny-state regulation.

No, nothing like that. GM messed up and tried to cover it up. VW intentionally set out to defraud the public and blow their own horn while doing it. VW was caught by the EPA two years ago and had the marbles to keep lying and cheating after they were caught. Heck, they continued the scam with the 6 cylinder diesel after they were caught twice with the 4 banger.
Also, GM wasn't going about touting the safety and reliability of their ignition switches while they knew otherwise.
Furthermore the GM ignition switch failures that have been documented are statistically insignificant. GM sold millions and millions of cars during that period. Lastly, I would bet a lot of those failed ignition switches were partially due to huge amounts of keys and key chains hanging from them.
Again, negligence and malice are two different matters.

Polaris would be my vote.

They seem well run, have $$ and aren't screwing up the brands they buy.

They are buying themselves niche markets and doing a good job of it

VW cheated the EPA...

Final count for deaths due to respiratory illnesses, over 50,000 per year in the US alone. All contributable to Folk's Wagon? Of course not, in any event, if they contributed to 1% of that 50,000 per year, still a he'll of a lot more than the GM number mentioned above.
And $594 million is spit in the ocean compared to what VW will dole out in fines and settlements.
Either way, whatever GM did has nothing to do with VW's crimes.

I'm not saying VW has anything to do with GM...

Your post sounded like you were attempting to vindicate GM or say that GM killing people and cover it up was less egregious than VW having a bit higher emissions than they are allowed.

People die in cars every day, they are dangerous. Lawyers will always be looking to exploit and capitalize on that.
VW didn't only cheat the EPA, they cheated a lot of people who bought their cars, they also spewed a bunch of toxic stuff into the air that all of us get to breathe, weather we own their cars or not.
Nevr mind VW is also in trouble with NHTSA for lying and under-reporting fatalities in their vehicles.

40 times is not a bit. EPA doesn't regulate emissions for laughs, look at Beijing on a nice smoggy day.
I didn't bring up GM, just added some clarity to what was brought up.

I am not trying to vindicate GM, but yes, what they did, and any number of manufacturers using Takata airbags did was all far less egregious than what VW did.
The hubris and audacity of VW is probably the most egregious.
And again, all manufacturers are killers I suppose as people die in cars of all marks daily.

M1combat quote:"VW having a bit higher emissions than they are allowed.Unquote

A 'bit' more? I don't think so. Try 10 to 40 times the allowable levels! A quote from an article on VW's crime follows: Volkswagen has admitted equipping half a million diesel cars in the U.S. with software to cheat on emissions tests — and then, in normal driving, to spew between 10 and 40 times the allowable levels of nitrogen oxides.
As for GM? I don't trust their quality control or build quality enough to buy one.

Let me also say I do not mean to sound dispassionate about the people that died in GM cars. It is a terrible thing that people died, people lost family members.
What GM did to cover up the problem was wrong.
