I wouldn't be surprised if we don't hear anything until the court approves the sale on Monday. |

WHO GOT IT??!!!!! It really won't be official until the Court proceedings on the 14th, so anything at this point wouldn't be definite. At least that's what I am thinking... This has got to be the absolute first time I've looked forward so much to a Monday! 1313 |

We heard immediately after the auction last time, didn't we? It was kind of indirect- another guy who'd been interested in bidding made a post on Facebook to Bruce Belfer congratulating him on being the successful bidder. |

My money is on a liquidator. Everything will be sold off. Lets hope I lose this bet. |

It was a "going concern" auction. I don't think it can be liquidated at this point. To be qualified to bid, you had to show that you were planning to build motorcycles, which would provide employment, etc., etc. I think if no reasonable bids had come in for the intact company, then it could be liquidated. I hope I'm right! |

My heart goes out to Bruce. You know he had to have put a lot of time and effort into this. You never know. It may have been a blessing in disguise for him to not have won. |

While I am somewhat disappointed that Bruce did not get the bid, I am hoping that a large company has purchased EBR and will continue the brand. A company with deep pockets would be a huge benefit. While I would be really surprised if H-D bought the company, but based upon their loss of market share to other brands, it would make sense for them to do so in order to expand their model lineup and move out of the cruiser only market. I have owned 9 or 10 Harley's but with the demise of the FXR-SP, FXRT, FXDX, and the XR1200X, they really have nothing I want to own. |

Harley won't move out of the cruiser market, at least not without a major infusion of new management blood. They simply have blinders on, and so do their customers. As much "good business sense" as it would make...it simply won't happen. Much like trying to change the course of a glacier. VRSCA. XR1200. "Hidden" water cooling on touring bikes so nobody sees it and it doesn't "damage" the traditional look. These are staunch, stubborn traditionalists and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I could be wrong, but with as many years as I worked at a dealership and as many customers as I was exposed to... I'd be extremely surprised. |

^ Remember they got a new CEO earlier this year who actually rides. IIRC, his personal bike is an XR1200 and he was previously heavily involved in Buell Europe. |

It would be interesting to think of a company like Tesla picking up an established business where an existing power plant could eventually be replaced with an electric mill. Remember Tesla started out on the high performance end of the auto market first. The Tesla base motor is about 80ish lbs and can play in the 400 hp area. There would be a lot of technical issues to overcome but it would be a game changer if they could get a battery that could keep that motor happy for a 150 miles or so. Tesla is working on a smaller electric car so they probably have a smaller motor already pretty well sorted out. |

There was a LOT of resistance to BMW expanding into water-cooled multis in the early 80s. Back then, BMW boxer enthusiasts may not have numbered as high as Harley enthusiasts, but they were no less vocal in their opposition to the change in the line-up. The difference is, BMWs management was forward-thinking enough to realize pissing off a few "dinosaurs" was worth it in the long run by opening up their motorcycles to an entirely new and different marketplace. Who knows... maybe even Ducati will come out with a four-cylinder street bike soon (I don't count the Desmosedici). |

Before anybody asks NRHS was not involved either, although I did offer to buy 50 bikes if they had to sell of the assets in lots. |
