Just picked these up. Bored XB race cases with a billet trap door to boot. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Buell-XB-Racing-Crank-Case -Engine-Case-Billet-Trap-Door-/161892491482?_trksi d=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma =true&si=ViRoQ%252B%252B69FsvxTDH1CbCiBd%252BOwo%2 53D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc Windage tray has been welded, but otherwise they look sound, other than needing CLR bad. I don't trust the cylinder studs either, but for $200, not gonna complain. (Message edited by phelan on November 25, 2015) |

Will you be able to transfer your tranny bits in there or does the trapdoor make them special? |

Assuming the trap door is like the XBRR, the transmission pieces are the same, just mounted to the trap door instead of the case. |

Maybe it would be a good thing to compare if this could also be done to the non race xb cases to?! (Message edited by Brother in buells on November 25, 2015) |

Possibly, but finding the billet trap door would be next to impossible. It's not the same as the 91-03 XL piece. |

Can a stock XB case be converted to a trap door? Yes. How do I know? Because I already did it about 5 years ago. |

What's the benefit of having that trap door? |

You don't have to split the engine cases to work on the transmission gearset. |

I did it first for one of our race bikes to make life easier (as Ratbuell said). And I did it for a friend of mine for his street bike as he had repeatedtly problems with his stock transmission. In fact I used XBRR transmissions for the conversion. Nice for the race bike (lighter transmission) and even nicer for the street bike (as it shifts just perfect). Of course it could be done with a stock tranny and a self made trap door. Even played with a 6 speed but never finished this project. Sorry - no pics available. I´m doing stuff like that all day long and never found the time to make pictures of all and everything. |

I always considered the lack of trap door to be a major flaw in an XB. I had no idea it could be corrected! More info, pics and parts specs would be an awesome thing to have recorded online. Like here maybe? |

As far as I know only the Buell Racing cases have trap doors. I found these on eBay. It will be a while before I do anything with them, but I'll post my progress here when I do. |
