When I bought the thunderstorm motor to replace the motor in my S2 (case needs repair) It came with a 29 tooth pulley that I have been spending some time sorting out whether or not I liked it. It definitely kept the RPMs down, but on a recent 250 mile ride through skyline drive and back home I found myself searching for the right gear, its like I needed a 4 1/2 gear...so I fond myself riding in 4th gear on the way home to stay "ON" THE PIPE... So today I finally decided to swap it out for a 27 tooth I had just "laying around"... I used the locking tool which worked perfectly to keep from putting any load on the 5th gear or the transmission.. and used this replacement nut with the integrated locking plate...the last person to install a pulley used a lot of red thread locker...that thing was a bear to remove....
installing and indexing the nut and locking plate
All done!
Sure like it better with the 27 tooth drive pulley. Motor is a thunderstorm motor, with 2" S2 stock header and megaphone supertrap exhaust Its definitely on the pipe and I'm no longer searching for the right gear... (Message edited by Jolly on September 27, 2015) |

I put a 27 on mine as well and have never looked back. Its so much easier to ride on the skinny twisty roads. I never ride the bike on the interstate so the 27 was a good choice for me. |

Nicely documented. Anyone have a spare 29 tooth they'd like to part with? I need one for my S1. I like tall gears. Used to run my T-Stormed '95 S2 with the Euro gear combination of 29/55 tooth pullies. 4k would have you cruising at 100mph.

I've got several 29 and 27 tooth sprockets. Looking for $55.00 shipped in the US. Price includes the spacer also. Thanks, Kevin kmbuell |

That's one I designed and had made.... Made about 10 of them and sold them here.... I don't have any left but could get some more made I think. Same guy that made the S2 side plates with changes for newer kickstand made them for me. |

Jolly I might be interested, do you remember the cost? Is the round part, part of that , or something else again? |
