Does anyone know where the low tension side coil wires go? The coils have three prongs but it looks like the schematic only shows it going to two places so whats the 3rd prong for? |

Figure 6-21 of the Electrical Manual shows three wires going to each coil. Front coil has power on terminal 3 through the gray wire, ECM ground on terminal 2 through black wire, and ECM control on terminal 1 through yellow/blue wire. Rear coil has power on terminal 3 through gray wire, ECM ground on terminal 2 through black wire, and ECM control on terminal 1 through blue/orange wire. Is this what you needed? |

Yeh thanks. I'm trying to use these coils on my Aprilia and the low tension side of its coils just have two wires so I'm trying to see how to do this. One of its wires goes to the ecu and the other to a relay. Have to find out what that relay does. |

If I had to guess, I'd bet the relay provides power to the coils, and the ECM controls the firing through grounding them at the appropriate times. I'd say the separate ground wire (terminal 2 on front and rear) could be grounded anywhere on the engine, no particular reason why it needs to be attached to the ECM ground point. |

Very good, I like it. I really hope I can get these coils to work on the Ape. |
