For full disclosure: I should also add that the title states this is a 2008 1125R, clean and clear title of course. I was told this bike was originally a factory buy back bike (lemon law possibly), and an ex-Buell employee bought the bike for parts. I was told some parts of the front brake system were pulled off and used for a race bike that the owner had at the time. The bike was then sold to a local racer (and H-D employee) for parts as he wanted to run Pike's Peak in the standard class. He used the CR parts from the bike to convert his race bike to comply with the standard class. He then decided to put his race bike back to R trim, and I bought all of the CR parts with his R racebike frame, and then I put it all back together and turned it back into a street bike. I painted his R frame in the factory black frame paint so it matches the swingarm and looks factory. The bike is very clean and you would never know that it is a '08 R frame from the look of it. The only part of the bike that is a '08 R is the frame and the chassis harness. There was a small change in the cooling fan sub harness in 2009, and the proper modifications were made to make the '08 chassis harness compatible with the '09 engine harness. Please remember that I am a mechanical engineer and I worked at EBR when I reassembled this bike, so it is properly assembled and I had all of the Buell manuals at my disposal at the time. If have questions about the bike, just ask. |

I'm curious to see the VIN plate? |

I can take a picture of the VIN stamping area later tonight, and post it tomorrow. I masked off the VIN stamp area before painting the frame, so it basically looks stock. The VIN sticker was removed since it is clear and it would have shown the magnesium blue color through if it had not been taken off. Are you asking because you are interested in the bike, or just curious? (Message edited by jcrane82 on October 19, 2015) |

Wisconsin DOT requires buyback vehicle title to be branded Manufacturer Buyback: What does "MANUFACTURER BUYBACK" mean? A Wisconsin brand that is placed on a vehicle title for a vehicle that is bought back by its manufacturer (or by an authorized distributor or dealer with compensation from the manufacturer) because of a nonconformity that was not corrected after a reasonable attempt to repair it. See the Wisconsin's lemon law page on our website for more information. |

Additionally, a branded title is considered defective; vehicle value is adversely affected to the tune of 40% to 60% less than wholesale value |

Yea right^ It's a clean title... The previous frame doesn't mean shit. Just like my swaps that have sold at or more than average. That being said id market it as a 08 r converted to CR. Not try to pass it off as a 09 cr. That bike is priced fine, you'd be hard pressed to find a frame swap that clean. Someone put a lot of effort into doing it. It appears factory. Red caliper, correct swing arm and all. Don't try to beat a bike up that shouldn't be beat up That crap belongs on FB, not bad web. |

Jrobey, If your comments are directed at my post, I'm not trying to beat up anybody. Stating what I felt were important considerations. Certainly in Pennsylvania, a frame number not matching engine number may cause problems with titling and registration, not to mention state inspection. As well, under the circumstances, this bike should probably have a reconstructed title ; the reason being it would indicate all parts used in the reconstruction were legally and properly obtained and documentation for same were accepted by DMV. |

Requested pictures of the VIN area of the frame, sorry for the horrible cell phone quality:
Yes, this frame is from Wes Orloff's Pike's Peak bike.....as well as some of the CR specific components. Wes originally bought the bike for parts from Danny Bilansky (no title as far as I am aware). The bike was complete except for the front caliper and rotor, which Danny took off and used for one of his race bikes. Wes took the CR parts off of the bike and equipped them on his 1125R race bike for Pike's Peak. After Wes decided to put his race bike back to 1125R trim, he basically had a complete 1125CR without a title (although it was disassembled at the time). He then swapped the frames and sold me the 2009 1125CR with his 2008 1125R frame and title. I registered the bike as a 2008 1125R, since that is what the frame and title is. I will post some pictures later showing the state the bike was in when I received it. As far as value goes, I agree that it is not worth 100% retail due to the mismatched frame......but there is no way in hell that it is worth 50% wholesale value. I think it should be about 20% lower than if it was a '09 frame and title...which is exactly why I priced it at $4,400. I even this this bike should be worth more than a 2008 1125R that has done the bodywork conversion, since this has a '09 engine, CR race tune, CR swingarm with proper gearing, plus the high bars. Joe7bros, I would appreciate if you kept your negative comments to yourself as they will scare away potential buyers who do not take the time to read the full description of my post. A buyer who skims the ad and sees your post about a branded title might not bother reading further. |

Jcrane, I did not see me comments as negative; they are comments that highlight the lack of proper title/paperwork for the motor, which could cause issues with titling and registration; bike could also be impounded. Your prior post about full disclosure should have included the "he basically had a complete 1125CR without a title" statement sooner. Do you really want someone feeling like they have been stiffed. |

Joe, I am being open an honest about the history of the bike. I am not trying to "stiff" anyone. I think maybe you jumped to conclusions without fully reading my disclosure or waiting for more information first. Also, it is the frame that needs to match the title, the DMV doesn't care if it is original engine or not. There are no titling issues with the bike. Please stop saying that there will be issues. Here is the state of the bike when I received it from Wes:
I then painted the frame with the Buell specific aerosol paint:
The reassembly process begins:
I wasn't a fan of the black plastics, so I traded for red from a fellow buellxb member who was local to me. (Message edited by jcrane82 on October 20, 2015) |
