I pulled the stator wire out with out issue, went back to install it with the wire I had left and when pulling through it disconnected from the tape I put I place. Any thoughts on wiring this thing back through? | ||

Got some weed eater wire some how through it, but can't get the stator wire to come with it. Just strips off any tape I put I it. | ||

bend hooks in both ends, wrap tight with tape. | ||

did you take the stator plug of the end so you just have bare terminals there first? The plug itself will never pull through. | ||

Theshinez, man I would hope I'm not dumb enough to do that  ! I definitely took that off before I pulled that wires out. I didn't have much of an issue pulling them out, but did take some significant pulling when I got everything right about the stator. Now I'm just trying to install. Every attempt I make is pulling the guide wire right out of the tape I am using. I'm using silicone spray all over it. I've used that rubbery like electrical tape and some black duct tape. Although, they are a bit thick. Zac4mac, I feel like if I bend hooks it will have a harder time getting through... I had some wire, but considering how much I am pulling, I'm afraid I might damage the wire entirely. | ||

If you have bailing wire or a wire clothes hanger, that is the two thing I use when fishing wires. Yes you need to hook the wires, twist it back around itself then tape it up good to make a smooth transition. The stiffer the guide wire is the better your chance because you can manipulate it better. | ||

notmefred...Harbor Freight has some utility wire in plastic blue can ...it's like Stainless steel safety wire used in the aircraft industry..it is strong and skinny and makes a good pulling wire. 1) clean off all the silicon with Alcohol or ether (starting fluid) 2) the thin but strong wire can be wrapped several time around the "bundle" of stator wires ...don't know if you have room for a hook like a real fish tape, think of a "Chinese handcuff" you played with when you were a kid ...you want the guide wire to squeeze the stator wires as you pull on the guide wire 3) do your best to tape all the wires together ( clean dry wires work best)...I like vinyl electrical tape the cheap stuff from Home depot or Harbor Freight...you need to overlap the tape like if you were taping up a base ball bat or hockey stick...you should finish your wrap at the end of the stator bundle which is the skinny start of the pull wire...this way the start of the tape gets pulled through first. 4) Lube- professional electricians use a liquid like substance when pulling wire through conduit...suggest you try liquid soap...dish washer type or hand soap (sex lube (KY gel)works good too!)...this way if you fail you can clean it off with water...hope this helps | ||

I'll check it out on the way home today. I have a HF right around the corner from me. Only thing I worry about would be the metal wire cutting into the stator wire. But, if people have done it before I imagine it can be done. Thanks for the tip  . | ||

if you're worried about cutting into the stator wire insulation...make a thin wrap (1 layer) of tape around the stator wires and then spiral wrap the skinny pull wire several times around the newly wrapped/taped stator wires, and then tape the pull wire to the stator wires...lube it up and it should be good to go...good luck! | ||

I got some of that stainless wire in the blue tube you were referring to. took me a few times, but I eventually got it through. Thanks for the tips! I like to ride the bike below 5k. I got the rotor fix as well. Too bad that likely won't fix the issue entirely. To what I have read the stator will fail again... | ||

heat and oil level and the "weight" of oil you use is your enemy. 1) I grew up in Cleveland, it freezes where you live...keep and eye on your antifreeze, add some water wetter...if you haven't flushed your system...try and do it before next riding season 50/50 + water wetter. 2) check your oil level before you ride...see the revised method on the home page of the 1125 section 3) run a 20-50wt oil, (I've switched to a 20-50 wt full synthetic bottled for Mercury Marine (quicksilver brand) available at walmart) the cooling system only takes 3 qts, the bike only takes 3 qts of oil...not much liquid there to remove the heat form the engine. The Voltage regulator doesn't help the charging system or Stator issue- it will eventually fail...save your pennys and retrofit the Ducati made VR with a CE605 from theses guys: http://www.roadstercycle.com/Roadstercycle%20Serie s%20Regulators.htm your riding season is so short back there...the last thing you want to do is spend the season fixing the bike!...Good Luck back there! | ||

Sounds good. I think I only have about 5k miles on the bike, so I'll take a peak at the levels. Do you know if with the CE605/rotor/hi temp stator solves the issue, or are the stators still failing? | ||

If your stator has the higher temp wire and you have the rotor modded, the stator should not fail. | ||

I initially pulled two draw wires through. On installation of the new stator i pulled two wires with the first of the draw wires, leaving a single as the last pull through. I didnt like the thought of pinning success on one 'Try' As the wires need lubrication to help them pass through, i used silicon grease if i was having real trouble, i would concider removing the bullets and solder a draw wire on and pull them through seperately | ||

I used bailing wire and was able to fish it through where I needed to go. Then I took about a foot of the wire and wrapped it around the stator wires as tight as I could, then wrapped all that with electrical tape, used spray silicone, and viola! Wires through |
