How big is it - baseball, B-B or grain of sand? |

Little bit bigger than a bb. It is flat and not very thick. |

I thought that was the tail bag sticking out above water, was going to ask which way the tide was going. On a more serious note, you didn't mention what type of material that might be. Is it metal or plastic, magnetic or not? Could be as simple as a chunk out of the primary chain adjuster. |

Its metal. I'm headed to work currently, but will stick a magnet to it when I get home. |

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just change your tranny fluid sooner and see if more comes out. Remember that there is no filter on the tranny juice so a strong magnet on the drain plug is your best defense. |

It was stuck to the magnet so I guess it is indeed magnetic. |

If it looks cast or machined would be interesting too. Machined random unidentified chunks of things in your oil are generally worse then cast unidentified chunks of things in your oil. Somebody cared more about the machined parts. |

Magnetic? first guess would be a piece of tooth from the ring gear on the clutch basket. If so, nothing to really worry about unless you find more... Z |

I haven't yet. It shifts fine. When I change the transmission oil next time I am going to pull the primary cover and see whats going on. |

I'm with Zac4Mac, looks like a piece of tooth from the ring gear. Looks like they might not have tempered it enough and it's a little brittle. If that's the case and you don't hear anything weird while turning over the starter I'd not worry about it until you do. You can buy replacement ring gears from the aftermarket if the time comes. Sagehawk, you have a strange sense of humor...God love ya! |

I think I need to replace the ring gear on my 2008 Uly. Parts catalog shows it as part of the clutch shell(377899-02A). Can this ring gear be replaced on the original clutch shell? If so, any recommended parts supplier? And some instructions on how to do it would be a bonus. |
