Has anyone tried these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-Car-H7-68-3528-SMD-LED- 270LM-White-Headlight-Bulb-Fog-Light-Lamp-12V-US/3 60707116931?_trksid=p5713.c100041.m2061&_trkparms= aid%3D333008%26algo%3DRIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D201 40109102600%26meid%3D3cac98d996514e8eb78bfdb395eb6 52c%26pid%3D100041%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D31%26mehot%3Da g%26sd%3D111264713245 Thanks |

I tried an led H7 bulb once (didn't have as many led's as that one), with poor results. it sure seemed bright out of the housing but I'm thinking the placement of the filament is what the reflector housing is designed around. (pun) so when you put in a set of led bulbs the light isn't coming from the parabolic center of the housing, so it is out of focus and casts a wide, dispersed beam it might have been the LED bulb I used, so please try these and post up with your results. Only 4 watts, 270 lumen. If you are thinking about lighting inside a tent (small tent) they will work. If replacing a headlight, NOPE. May work for a turn signal. |

I wish I had a way of building enclosures and lenses (and heatsinks): http://www.goldmine-elec-products.com/prodinfo.asp ?number=G20713 $5 for 22 watts... |

Holy crap that is awesome! Focusing that into a proper beam would be the most important. Allelectronics has some nice smaller ones too: http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/categor y/340070/leds/5-30w-leds/1.html |

Crap. Does anyone bother to do any research on issues/ questions or just "wait" for a hand up? |

I was wondering if I could work out something with stacked layers of glass (like microscope slides) to make a fresnel focusing assembly of some kind. I was also looking at cheap EBay flashlights with metal / glass heads to decapitate and reuse as reflector / focusing assemblies. And surplus DLP TV parts... Never did find a good option, but it was fun to think about. The drop in bulb replacement they were selling over at Advrider with the fan looked reasonable. |

I just installed 2 AVD Monster LED headlights they fit in the uly housing just fine, and cut holes in the rubber lamp seals and I love them for dispersal of light side to side and long distance. As I run a duel light setup. Dave |

Dennisc has LEDs on his 1125R, he got them on ebay (wasn't sure the seller), and they are freaking bright and lit up a campground at night. I need to bother him again to see if he found a link yet. The LED that is stock on my 1190SX is amazing but is quite expensive |

yeah this was the first LED I saw and being that I replaced my house lights with much less wattage LED lights I though it would be the same. too much crap on ebay to pick from and looks like none of it is tested and money being tight right now I'll stick with a proven $3 halogens for now. Though it would be nice to find out what Dennisc used. Airdale is there a link to it? |

Don't look at watts, look at lumens. That is the actual light output. I have a 2400 lumen h7 in my Uly high beam and its...average. Dennisc posted the link somewhere froggy, maybe in the wvbr thread? Something like 4000 lumens per, I think. |

I just saw house of hid will be offering 4,000 lumen leds probably mid September, supposedly fitting 99% of the cars and motorcycles. They stated they are the shallowist no fan assy.no price yet |

Reep, I bought one of the Advrider LEDs Here's the Silverstar I had before. And here's the LED. Looks whiter and brighter, but in reality, the center has a dark spot and the lighting is a bit diffused. It may need some adjusting of the focal point to concentrate the beam. The lighting elements are on the sides of the bulb, so the dead spot seems logical. I think if they were top and bottom, it would eliminate the dead spot center, but the beam would be narrower. |

Pictures are hard to use to tell brightness, because cameras typically do everything they can to make all pictures the same brightness regardless of the amount of light. It's hard to measure, so an opinion of somebody who tried one is pretty valuable. |

You can judge the relative brightness by comparing the oil and neutral lights. |

Nate- I guess you could adjust the focal point by putting a suitably sized washer or 2 between the bulb and the housing? If the bulb needs to be farther into the housing, how would you do that? |

I have that same unit from goldmine. While it does produce a lot of light it also produces a formidable amount of heat. I tried to upload a pix but couldn't manage it. The other problem is that the light it produces is in a wide pretty even cone at about 110 degrees. Unless you are very good at lensing it will only annoy oncoming drivers. I finally mounted it to an old dead 12"fry pan as a heatsink and use it all the time as an area light outside where there is no 110v. It is fun to experiment with. |
