Thanks for advise so far,I found a slightly corroded low
Tension connector on the coil and was hopefull.
When I test rode it it had the same symptom.
Off and on with the kill switch always cures it (with a
Loud backfire) riden gently it works fine but I don't often
ride like that!
I kicked down the side stand whilst riding and that cut ignition but it restarted as soon as I let it return without the need to flick the kill switch,any more suggestions?

Anyone know if there is there a bank angle sensor on the 2002 M2?

My parts book shows one was introduced in 2001, p/n 32495-98

More on 02 cyclone engine cutting out Thanks for the info folks,it turns out what I thought was
a relay and moved to fit my tiny home built side panels
was in fact the bank angle sensor!
I have now repositioned it and it is now back to normal.
Ripping up the road, a top diagnosis many thanks
