2006 XB12X with race ECM and aftermarket exhaust. Original problem was intermittent misfire/cutout. Online advice was replace everything electronic and fuel, so I've been working on that. New coil, spark plugs and wires, throttle position sensor recalibrated with ECM spy. Then it ran with way advanced timing. Then replaced O2 sensor and engine temp sensor and cam position sensor. Cannot get timing set within the adjustment range of the cam position sensor rotation range - way advanced, coughs and spits back into the intake. I think something in the ECM is set wrong after doing the throttle position sensor calibration, but I have no idea what. Any ideas, gentlemen? |

Using a timing light, set the timing with the cam position sensor screws removed. Then drill new holes in the mounting plate for the screws. You only have to do this once, so retaining the ability to nudge the timing plate sideways is not an issue. |

Ok. But it bothers me that it changed significantly. Makes me think something is wrong with it. |

I think they changed the mounting position of the CPS on its plate in later years. When I replaced my CPS, I had to twist the plate to the furthest advanced position of the slots. Your bike is not unique, this issue has surfaced before. |
