Neither the S1 or S2 ever came with the fourth tie-bolt, though many have added them. The X1 and later S3 came with the fourth tie-bolt installed, the M2 did not. Renter, I think you are describing a Stenzel bar. The end that has the bend in it bolts to the top of your front isolator (you need a longer bolt with the proper strength which the bars came with. The other end bolts to the tie bolt mounting point on the engine (under the tank). This should help your front mount last longer because it reduces the rocking pressure on the mount by moving the top bolt with the head bolts (both ends now tied to the engine. I have a couple of these and can see how they work. |

The S3 has the hole for it, but no tie was installed at the factory. If my rusty memory serves. My '99 S3 parts book shows it, and lists the quantity of tie-bars at 4. Just for sake of accuracy, 1313 |

My 99 X1 frame has no spot to attach the 4th tie bar to so I doubt it came with it? |

S1 owner, looks like a nicely made copy of the Stenzel. Where did you find the braided throttle return cable? I have only found the throttle pull side. Not sure I have ever seen an X1 without the 4th tie-bolt? I believe even the 99 and newer M2 had the mounting spot on the frame even though they did not have the bolt. |

"My 99 X1 frame has no spot to attach the 4th tie bar to so I doubt it came with it?" Something wrong there, because 99X1s did come with that 4th tie. Thanks for the S3 correction. So it's the M2 that didn't have it? |

Hootowl, that's right M2s did not have the bolt. 99 and newer S3s did have it even though the 97 and 98 S3 did not. Lots of changes along the way, but 99 was a big year for frame changes (raised rail on the right side for the under exhaust, added frame brace etc...), I believe there was also a vendor change. |

99 x1 frame no mount was not there with the original paint either. Probably made before the change. |

No idea. I bought my X1 in January of 99. I suppose it's possible there were earlier frames manufactured. Running change? Maybe that's why my rusty innerds remember an S3 frame without the 4th tie? |

My good friend Corey at Motion Pro can hook you up with braided SS clutch and throttle cables. Mine look awesome. Ask for Corey by name, tell him Scott in NH sent you, he will take good care of you. |

So to investigate your accusation, I did a little investigation in your photo account. What did my little eye spy?
Zoomed in on the feature of interest:
So, it wasn't there with original powdercoat, but it somehow appeared after custom powdercoat? That's quite a nice trick! Better go check that it's still there! Not busting your hump - just setting the record straight, 1313 |

well I stand corrected. The way I seen the first example loked like it came off the other side of the frame so I was not even looking at this side, |

ok so that poses a question Should I look for the X1 mount or stick with the s1 mount I have? |

That X1 is setup very nicely, I would recommend running the fourth bolt to optimize handling. However, I would consider a billet version. |
