So many times when I am out riding, and I blip the throttle, or downshift coming to a stop, I see people turn their heads looking for the HD. So many of them give me and my bike that strange look, that says " What the Hell, that ain't no Harley" |

Yea I get the same response from h-d riders as you get close to them. They look around and when you pull up next to them they won't look at you especially if people are watching so I just wave and smile behind my helmet. A couple of guys I rode with (they are h-d only types) said that I kinda fit in the "family" now as it sounds like them. (I have the factory race kit). Big deal I LIKE my Buell! |

I've had stuff like that happen before.. I've had a customer walking from his cage to the front door of a local stealer make a crack about not allowing that Jap Sh** to park in front of an 'Merican dealer. I've had rice riders look at me with a 'what the 'F' is that' and I've had people look around when they hear it and look right past me, looking for the 'cruiser'. I've had some hard core h-d types wanna talk to me about the bike. Some have been openly derisive about it, others seemed honestly curious. Even had a few wish they would drop the motor into the sporty, so it would be sporty. I've visited some dealers where the sales guy is up on the product and that excitement is almost contagious. They even take you and your wife around and show you the shop, get Tripp to explain a racing machine to her and get her even more excited about her new (ok, used) ride. (thanks again Bubba)Those are the places you WANT to go. I've also had dealers on the opposite side of the coin. nuff said on them. So it's not a Harley Davidson. I have one of those, I ride it, I love it for what it is. It's not the same as riding the Buell.. Harley's are more for cruisin' and easin' around.. The Buell, now that is passion, that is adrenaline, that is a packaged overload of pure grunt riding and sensory overload. I love it! Does anyone else around me care? Do other riders think I'm on the bestest they've ever seen? I really don't care. As for my feelings towards other riders? I just wave as we pass, if they're on two wheels, they're ok in my book. If they don't wave back.. Their loss, their lack of class, may their short hairs get knotted and their little egos crushed. I'm not riding for their approval, so I can care less what they feel about me and my choice of bike. My Friends, are those that see, feel, know, understand, share my passions for riding. You know who you are.. and I know who you are.. (we may not have actually met yet, but we will, in time) Don't ever let them get you down. You are the master of your own mind. You are the one that has the passion. You are the one that rides the Buell. You are the one that really matters.. as for them.. Joke 'em if they can't take a F&*k! Uhh.. What was I just talking about? Never mind, I'm goin' ridin'... Later, |

The question to me always is, why in the hell would anyone want to fit into the HD culture thing? If so, buy the sportster! BTW-I understand the VROD owners get tons of shit too. Apparently, they are not part of the HD breed. Must be laughable as they run right past the HD tubs.

We Buellers really don't fit in anywhere, but I have been more welcomed by the Japanese/Italian sport bike guys than HD riders. The average HD guy is resistant to change and it is almost as if the Buell scares them. I have a Sportster too, and it will never be half the machine that the M2 is. I wouldn't think twice about selling the Sporty, but the Cyclone is mine for life. |

I love the way people look at my bike when I go roaring by. The "What in gods name is that thing?" expression is priceless. I've always liked being a little different though, maybe that's why the Buells have appealed to me ever since I saw my first S2 at 13 yrs. old. |

It's one of the greatest feelings in the world to see the confused/scared/jealous looks from the dudes driving around in their trucks with the H-D stickers when the hear my bike and then look up to check out the "Hog". I've only had it since February, after 10 years of waiting for the opportunity. But after 800+ miles of pure heaven I couldn't care less what any asshole on any other bike thinks, I'm loving the hell out of it! I really had some fun the other day scaring the hell out of two women who were standing inside the door of the barber where I get my hair cut. The engine did one of those small backfires that it will do when you start it hot. They both jumped straight to the ceiling! The best part they were both HOG members and were asking about my Buell before I left. They just didn't expect it to sound like that. JT |

Buellgator, We have a common thread. I sat on the RS 1200 when I was 14. Just took me longer to be able to realize Buell ownership. I've always loved Buell, loved what it meant, loved the kind of people that gravitate toward the energy that is Buell. Now, I'm fortunate enough to have "His and Hers" XB's in the garage... Life is grand, and this is bliss! |
