Marcbe - thanks for the info, I'll take a look at it. UPDATE: I took the left side scoop off and was moving the cables around to try and see which one was for the right blinker. Since it was all wrapped up good I decided toeave it alone, but leave the scoop off for now. I got the battery in the mail today, installed it, turned the key, run switch, and hit the start button....I can back to life without hesitation. Lots of valve clatter but that should clear up when the lifters fill back up. After a couple minutes, smooth as silk. Shut it down and was looking for a place to put the ECM now. I decided to slide it in front of the battery box at an angle. There is a metal bracket there so I put some hard rubber and electrical tape on the bracket along with wrapping up the wires with tape too. It looks like the seat will fit fine. I have a picture of the location and tape job below. Oh and the right blinker now works too, must have moved the right bundle around. Let me know if this is not a good location for the ECM. |

Before covering in foam, put duct tape on upper corners of ecm.put seat on. With SHORT ride, pull seat back off. Check for rubs. Mine is in that place, loose, and 06 tall seat is cut away in small places to clear the ecm. Place thin foam board? Around ecm to keep big shocks from it. It does good. Just be sure it isn't being pinched up anywhere. |

I have more than 8mm. of clearance between the seat pan and the ECM when I am on the bike, this was confirmed with some kind of clay and after all by about 4.000km. Does not need to protect anything else! Is it not enough to be good? Just asking... |

Marcbe - thanks for the website, now need to make some type of bracket to at secure it a little bit better. I will also try to get my hands on some clay or play dough to check my clearance. I have both the stock and low seats, wonder which one will provide the best clearance. did you happen to find that voltmeter installation? If not, at least where did you wire it into? I should have mine today and would like to get it all set and in place. |

All of the Uly's factory seats use the same plastic seat pan. |

That's exactly how my ECM has sat for the last couple of years, with a shop rag wrapped around it, seems to work good for me. |

All of the Uly's factory seats use the same plastic seat pan. Vern- I have a 2007 standard seat, a 2006 tall seat, and a 2006 low seat. The seat pan is definitely different between the 2007 and the 2006 tall. I've never compared the 2006 low. |

The '06 low is the same a the '06 standard. I understood the '07 was the same. Lots of people swapped them around. What is different with yours? |

The 06 standard seat was the tall seat. The 06 low is definitely different than an 07 standard. They're about the same height, but the 06 low has a different cover, a gell insert, and a different contour than the 07 standard. (Message edited by Hughlysses on August 09, 2015) |

My point was that the Uly seat's plastic pans are all the same. |

I'm going to get some clay and see what space I have in each location (stock and in front of battery). |

My point was that the Uly seat's plastic pans are all the same. Yea, I understood; my point was they're not. I need to take a pic, because the bottom of the seat pans on my tall 06 seat and "regular" 07 seat are definitely different. Maybe the 06 tall and 06 low use the same seat pan; I've never compared mine. |

No problem Hugh, I'd like to see what is different. I swapped with an '07 owner one time to try our respective seats for difference in height and comfort. I didn't notice any difference in the pans, they fit OK after the somewhat forced initial "bike forming". I recall that Carlos went to the '07 on his '06. The '06 standard and '06 low pans are the same. |

OK. I just remember the recesses in the pan don't seem to correspond directly to the stuff that's under the seat. It's like they were making room for components that never got installed (future improvements like ABS?). I'll try and take a picture tonight. I'm currently using a used 06 low seat I bought off Badweb. I like it a lot better than the 07 standard seat. |

I have a couple seats too that I can take pictures of to compare the seat pans if that would be helpful. I have the stock 07 seat, and another different one. I think the stock 07 seat is the low seat, and the other one I have is the "tall" seat, but really I think it's wider more than it is taller. I do find it more comfortable. |

We've had all 3 seats on our Uly at some point in time. Carlos has a 29" inseam. The 06 stock seat was extremely tall for him. Then came the 06 Low seat...not bad, but the 07 stock seat was/is the best for him. While the pans may be the same (can't remember), the 07 stock seat has a lower cut out and wasn't as wide if I remember correctly. At one point I had a picture of all three seats side by side. It's buried somewhere here on BB&D. |

FOUND IT!! We did seat pics on bike, on ground and Carlos' reach on each. Here's the thread. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=142838&post=760948#POST760948 |

OK, here are photos of an 06 tall seat and an 07 standard seat. The seat pans aren't that different, but they're definitely different. 06 tall:
07 standard:
The "depressions" in the underside of the 07 seat are slightly different in shape plus there's a raised block just to the right of the dam/wall near the center of the seat. |

I see what you mean. Is that raised block where the ECM spacer blocks would have hit? I bought the '06 low seat new when they first came out. I tried it many times and found that on rides of over 200 miles the gel became the equivalent of concrete to my butt. Then my Air Hawk did not fit into the dip very well. Felt like what an overly tight too thick diaper might seem to feel like(you older guys might know). So I stay with the '06 tall original, seams and all, and I like it in part because I can comfortably add the AirHawk when I need it. I built my '06 low Uly seat into the Blastulys program where it is now. The wife gets to ride it on the gel, and when I ride it I'm up on the back foam padding, which is quite good actually.

Yeah, come to think of it, that probably is a spacer to hit between the battery posts so that the seat does not rub the cable ends and such. |

I used to have each a black and a black/orange 2007 Standard seat. IIRC molded into each pan were all the part numbers for all the available seats at the time, marked according to each particular seat style/color. Only seat I have left is the original 2006, and that pan looks like Hugh's '07 above. His must be a real early '06, my bike is a 10/05 build but I had them replace the seat under warranty when I bought the bike in May '06 since it was discolored. That square block does sit on the battery strap, probably as Vern noted. |

Hello all, here is a link which works for the voltmeter and installation, pic of mine installed on page 3 it is a 3 digits which is enought and let you a little more place for location: http://buell.actifforum.com/t40323-voltemetre-dans -cadran-compteur-gadget?highlight=voltmetre+dans+c adran+compteur Concerning the ECM placement I also did try with some clay material during a while and that's why I can say for sure that there is at least 8mm. between the highest point of the ECM and the seat pan (Message edited by Marcbe on August 12, 2015) |

Thanks for the info on the voltmeter as I'm probably going to try and tackle that this weekend since the weather today doesn't look promising and I'd have to work outside on it. I'm going to give the cray a shot and see how it goes, I did find a say to secure the ECM at a an angle in front of the battery so that it doesn't rattle around. |

You can cut the old ECM mount away from the battery tray and use it, screwed to the shock reservoir clip. Perfect angle. Cut it off, screw it to the "front" ECM lug, position it where you need to and drill a hole for a 1/4-20 bolt to the reservoir mount. There's a rib formed on that piece that I flattened first but maybe not necessary. Holds the ECM in place under the battery at the right angle, no seat contact. Worked for me. |

If you use clay to measure the seat to ECM gap, remember that the place it usually contacts is the connectors (not the ECM itself). Also, when the seat pan heats up, it is less rigid, add rider weight, and you will lose the gap that you thought you had. (Message edited by arry on August 12, 2015) |

If properly installed nor the ECM or the "upper" connector will touch, cold or (very) hot And sorry If I am not always precise/clear but English is not my first languish! |
