The Temps are with Motorcraft 10w30 Diesel Oil, Gonna Change it to Mobil One VTwin 20w50 see if the temps come down.

Ok,This was something I tried, I think this works pretty good, but the Plastic Venturi was damaged near the mounting holes.

This is what the stock set up looks like.

Took the Stock airbox off, lifted the tank and re-routed the pcv breather hose ( PCV faces directly toward the back of the Bike, and the hose routes under the throttle cables) no need to buy more hose. I put a short piece of Header pipe on and now there is smoke coming out of the Breather Filter. Any Idea What that could be caused by ? Took the Velocity stack off my other carb, PJ Motorsports and Used the Original T fitting as the catch can.

Do you know what normal temps are that you're comparing too? If you're not knocking and pinging, you're probably okay. Never run anything less than 20w-50 unless you will never ride above 40F. I can't see exactly where your PCV hose exits, but be warned, some stock Blasts will blow A LOT of oil out the breather. Your bike can be coated quickly (especially using thin oil). |

No I dont know what normal temps would be I was hoping someone might post something on it. No Knocking or Pinging, With the Stock Airbox and Muffler No Smoke. But with these mods, after it warms up there smoke coming out of the Breather filter. 3:30 in video a link to a short video. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1bt3Reo3toidm5lV nFDWTJLZGM/view?usp=sharing (Message edited by diozark on July 04, 2015) (Message edited by diozark on July 04, 2015) |

Don't worry about the temps, sometimes too much knowledge is a bad thing!! You'll drive yourself crazy watching temps. Just keep an ear out for knocking and pinging and power loss. Ditch the 10w-30 ASAP! You'll fry your engine in summer. It will also use it at an alarming rate, which will add to more of it being exited out the breather too. Smoke is normal coming out the breather. The breather: is that the only exit for the PCV? You likely need a new rocker cover PCV grommet, that's why it leaks there. The PCV can smoke A LOT, especially if you have a Blast that uses a lot of oil. If the breather is the only exit and you have a heavy user, that filter will eventually be soaked with oil and you be spewing smoke AND oil from it! PCV gas is mostly oil vapor, with some water and fuel mixed in. When it cools or condenses, you have liquid oil, water and gas left over. For future reader reference: the only thing a breather filter does is keep out garbage. If it's attached to the engine, it only 'sucks' on start up. That's the only time it will 'breath' in. The transmission is very low pressure, so you won't see much there. However, if you wash your bike and do the engine, having a breather stuck right on top, exposed, and you have a very good possibility of filling your transmission with water. That's why they run it up inside the frame, uncapped but protected from the elements. The transmission doesn't have a way to burn off any water trapped inside. There is less risk with an exposed engine PCV breather as it only blows out after startup, which will expel anything trapped in the line (stock it gets fed into the engine through the carb and burned). Many simple engines, like the Blast, don't use a filter, just an open tube, sometimes with some sort of trap at the end. |

Lastly, which I forgot to mention, with the PCV being fed into the carb (like stock), not only does it burn the crankcase gases being fed, but it also has a tendency to increase oil consumption by 'sucking' more PCV gases than would normally happen if the PCV hose was just vented to 'air'. So rerouting the PCV hose out of the air box accomplishes 2 things: less oil consumption and less dirty oil being fed into your engine. |

I am curious why you chose to try 10w30 oil? That is really skinny oil, even with diesel certification, for air cooled Harley bits. Running 20w50 in my bike, I have measured head temp of 365 degrees F on the front side of the head. The measuring point was just to the left of the exhaust port. 75 degree ambient temperature, bike having just run 30+ miles at 70 mph. |

Same - 325-350 here after a spirited ride in the summer. I wouldn't sweat your temps. My engine is running great - no ping or knock or anything. It's also not lean at all (Yost setup and correct jetting). 20w/50 though....all the time except for the dead of winter...then 15w/50 |

Ditch that shorty pipe - too short - just a matter of time before the exhaust valve is toast. EZ |

>>>>Don't worry about the temps, sometimes too much knowledge is a bad thing!! You'll drive yourself crazy watching temps. Just keep an ear out for knocking and pinging and power loss. I'd agree. No one gave more thought to the proper operating temperature that the engineers (Gary Valine and Gary Stipach) who designed that motor. If it's not pinging you are fine. Also, don't sucked into the "cooler is better" mindset. By the way . . . AVOID CLICKING ON THAT CLICK BAIT VIRUS ABOVE |
