Got this home Sunday night (about 130-135 miles riding it home). Since then, I've put about 70 more miles on the bike. The motorcycle is running very, very strong and smooth, and I'm taking it very easy until I get used to this much torque on tap. These pictures are after about 4 hours total work cleaning and detailing it...still a good bit to do; however, I think we're at the stage where I'm happy posting up pics. Details: 2009 XB12R Drummer Exhaust Race ECM (tuned) American Sport Bike crankcase breather and catch-can mod 1" drop pegs (thank God) Pilot Pwr tires I've installed the axle sliders that you can see in the photos - engine sliders to come shortly 7750 miles

congrats and welcome! the engine sliders are an item of controversy. the LSL crash bobbins (or similar) might just do more damage that offer protection, because the provide so much leverage on the mounting points/bolts. 5-0dro or the stuff from R&G are the better options IMHO. the powersstuntworx/extremebikeworks crash cage is another option, but it's a bit bulky. |

Cool - I'm going the 5-Odro type route, so hopefully things will be okay.... |

Did he give you the saddle bags for it ? If not, he might be contacting you to get the mounting bracket... |

Indeed, they can damage the cylinder head, but the head is cheaper and easier to replace than a frame, so it is worth the potential trade off in my opinion. |

Yes - I got the saddle bags and tail bag set for it....so the brackets will be staying with my bike. |

I know every tip-over/accident/horrific wreck is different, but what are the odds that there will only be damage to the head and the frame will remain unscathed? |

Remove those hideous belt guards and get a chin fairing, stat! |

Oh, I don't mind the belt guards :-) That said - I DO want to mount the chin fairing. I still need a left mounting bracket from Drummer, and I need bolts/screws to do it. Any help with what bolts/screws to get? I've asked this question on a number of forums with no answers yet. Can't mount the fairing without hardware and can't get the hardware without knowing what to buy. |

Dean Adams sells chin spoiler brackets. I'm not sure what hardware you need as I don't know how Drummer's chin spoiler mount works. I'd contact Drummer directly and see if you can buy the bracket and hardware. |

Bike is looking good there on the color combo! The bolts that are needed to mount the chinfairing onto the brackets are the same as for the airbox and fender. Don't know how the drummer brackets mount ,but some are bolted between the kickstand and on the belt tensioner wheel mount. |

I've written Kevin at Drummer twice with no reply - probably the holiday weekend, etc. The bolts for the airbox and fender are T27 bolts, correct? How long are they? I love the color combo...already have matching adjustable brake/clutch levers here as well as matching valve stem covers (yeah, I know that brands me as officially shallow, but I don't care). Engine slider hardware is here as well. Incoming heat shields for seat and airbox as well as frame grips (snake skin) from Tech Spec. Would LOVE advice as to lighting upgrades - especially the rear turn signals. |

Those T27 bolts are special ones for the xb, Have a look and read here http://www.buellxb.com/Buell-XB-Forum/Buell-Lightn ing-XB12S-XB12Ss-CityX-XB12Scg/airbox-screws-1 |

Okay - update for progress to date. Note the pictures below: engine sliders installed, headers cleaned even more, extendable/foldable brake and clutch levers installed, new seat cowl installed, Tech Spec snake skin frame grips applied, respectable bar ends on there now as well (and note the key chain :-) ). Still to do - large right side scoop, heat shield for rear header, heat shields under seat and airbox, chin cowl and fairing. I'm getting fairly close - new tags from WA state inbound and should be here by next week. Then I'm legal to get back to riding.

So more progress pictures. Right side scoop and rear header heat shield installed. Waiting on Special Ops heat shields for the seat and airbox, and then the only thing left will be brackets for the chin cowl (and the chin cowl, of course). Almost done.

Ron, Absolutely. It looks and runs like a million bucks. I don't think I could bring myself to get rid of that bike. I really enjoyed getting to ride with you that one time...I still have the pictures to prove it! Jay |
