Brad, Did you have any trouble getting them to fit on your M2? The instructions from DC Brag talk about "creative filing" to get the rear PCV valve to fit. Did you run into that? I'm thinking about doing the XB covers this spring. I have to take the front one off anyway since I pinched the rubber gasket when I did the rocker box gaskets last year. It's just a little oily up near the top cover. It's been that way for almost a year but I've just been too lazy to do anything about it. Maybe this is the time to switch to XB covers. | ||

John, I had no problems at all. They fit with no fileing at all. Even the left front corner. In fact they went on easier than the stockers! The ones on my M2 are Blast rockers. I had to machine the hole in the rear cover. The XB's have a front and rear so no hole relocation is needed. I have XB's for my S2, I didn't get to them tonight, looks like Saturday... If ya want, you can come on over and we can do them in my garage. Good tunes and a full fridge! Brad | ||

I did it to my S1. No problems with the rear pcv or routing of the required lines. The only thing I did do was pay attention to the front left corner. The first time I bolted everything up the motor mount was resting on the cover. I did a nice minor radius job to the motor mount for piece of mind. Loki (and friends Donner and Blitzen) | ||

We've got a couple rocker box pairs up at the polishers now, should have them at the end of the week. I'm gonna try to keep a full conversion kit in stock at all time starting as soon as they get in. The stock XB boxes are a bit rough looking. Al at American Sport Bike | ||

Hey Bluzm2, Did you have remove the motor mount and lower the motor to install these? These look to be the hot set up for the tubers.How long did it take you? Regards mike | ||

I did the XB covers on my S3 last fall. Had to do quite a bit of filing of the rear PCV to keep it from rubbing the fuel tank. With a dremel I filed the underside so it would sit lower in the cover then had to file the top down quite a bit to get enough clearance. Check for flexing of the plastic as you go so you don't file a hole in it. There must be quite a bit of variation in fuel tank dimensions if others can fit it without filing. Kurt | ||

Knickers, It might be the S3s. The DCBRAG link is also talking about an S3. Who all has put XB covers on their tube frame? What model, M2, S3, X1, etc. and did you have to do any filing to get it to fit? Maybe this belongs in the Knowledge Vault link that MikeJ posted. All, I'll take pictures of the entire process on the S2 and put something together for the masses. Regarding the M2 install of the BLAST rocker covers, they may be different than the XB's. I'll also check that this weekend. Mike, I'll get the pics of the Wilson bend on my S2 kickstand too! Wow, looks like I'm going to be busy! | ||

Both my '02 X1 and '98 S3 required filing of the upper front L/H corner of the rocker box to get them to fit as they hit the motor mount. The rear ones just popped right on and there weren't any clearance issues with the PCV valves. | ||

I put them on my S-2 when I got bike back together after Bonneville.Very easy job as I had the whole top end off anyway.Cleans up the hoses and carb side.One less gasket to worry about.I ran the lines to my Jaz catch can.Remember to plug the holes in the back of your air cleaner. | ||

My swaped right on no I also put the XB heads on with the Nallin motor mount so that may be why... | ||

Thanks! S3's need filing of the rear PCV valve, it looks like most of the others do not which simplifies the process. Dropping the front of the motor is not necessary, but it gives you more room to work in. It's definelty improved the bikes breathing, it hardly pukes any more. |
