Methinks Rossi likes Assen. It is one of the best tracks in the world for competitive races. Unless he blows the start he should have not have to spend the first few laps moving thru the field...and losing touch with the leader at the same time. | ||

Wow is right. I only saw the replay but what a finish. The broadcast on cable is not until 5 pm tonight so it would have been hard to avoid knowing the results anyway.Being a Saturday race really messes up the US TV broadcast as there is lots of stuff already set for saturdays and motoGP is really down the list. Next year it moves to Sunday. | ||

That move at the end reminded me of Dale Earnhardt's "pass in the grass" to get by Bill Elliott in "the Winston" many years ago. I suspect the winner of the race would appreciate that analogy. | ||

Noise restrictions. I understand there are alot of Churches in the area? Doesn't matter, 97,000 in attendance. Anyone catch the sea of motorcycles in parking lot--quite impressive! Thankfully the rain stayed away. As for the race, another classic by the Doctor. Is this guy getting better or is it my imagination? The overtake with 3 laps to go was simply fantastic. Everybody except VR46 thought MM was going to go back underneath to re-take the lead (and he did by a wheel or so), but the Dr. opened up the throttle hard and went around the outside at max lean angle. What can you say? Beautiful. What I learned about Assen is how narrow that track is. The over head shots made it look like they were racing on a pit lane. I have to believe this is a motorcycle-only track? Assen delivered once again. | ||

Yeah, that one angle from the front showed how much contact these really was--you couldn't really even be sure there was contact from the other angles. Marquez trying to win dirty in the final corner AGAIN. | ||

Rossi got revenge for the pass Marquez made on his teammate a couple of years ago. Lorenzo was in the lead until Marquez bumped him into the gravel on the last lap in Spain. He tried it again on "The Master" and learned the folly of his ways. And yes, the Assen track was initially built with motorcycle racing in mind. I don't know if they have auto racing there and if it would even be possible. When it was initially built, the pastor of the local church complained about the noise interrupting his sermons, hence the Saturday race date. Holland (like most civilized countries outside of the Middle East) has become far more secular since then, and they've realized how much money they're missing by not having the qualifying on a Saturday when people would PAY to come watch. | ||

Figor - If the cable box can be trusted, try FoxSports2, today, starting at 4:00PM eastern time. 4:00 is supposed to be Moto3, followed by Moto2 at 5:00, and MotoGP at 6:00. That may or may not be the sequence it is broadcast in . . . Hope this helps, Dave | ||

Call me an Uccio, but how easy would it have been for VR46 to let MM win? In the big scheme of the championship, taking second to MM isn't really a huge deal. Crashing would have been. All hail the GOAT. How about the little stink eye to MM as he lofted the wheel across the line???!!! | ||

Lorenzo was hyper on the first lap, but not quite enough and I don't think he had the pace to fight it out with MM and Rossi anyway. MM was given another lesson in what happens when he tries to intimidate a really hard racer. I think Rossi and Lorenzo will either cure him of his aggressiveness or break him entirely this season. Meanwhile, Crutchlow must be becoming more and more frustrated. He has the talent but every time he changes brand the bike disappoints. | ||

I don't think Crutchlow is anywhere NEAR as frustrated as Scott Redding right now. But I wonder how often he looks at Pol Espargaro and Bradley Smith and thinking one of those bikes could've been HIS... | ||

Loved the little wheelie in picture 2. Kept the front from digging in. Brilliant. In real time, VR46 had milliseconds to pull the front wheel off the ground once the bowling ball crashed into him, sending him through the gravel. | ||

Right. A lesser rider would've rolled off the throttle, ensuring the front wheel would be buried in the gravel and resulting in a crash. Rossi had the experiences and reflexes to pin the throttle open instead. When in doubt, WFO! | ||

Clever chap that Rossi. Marquez reminds me of Senna. He has that "I'm coming through get out of my way" attitude. Most riders would have given up that corner and taken second but Vale had the presence of mind to turn in on him enough to justify cutting the chicane. I can see both points of view but I'm delighted that Rossi took the win. MotoGP benefits massively from characters like Rossi and Marquez - a little tension makes it even better! | ||

I don't know what race you guys were watching. Seriously. Rossi ran it wide and lost the race until he bounced off Marquez and cut that last corner. No worries. Marquez is back. | ||

Pwnzor, I think you're probably the ONLY one with that opinion. Video tape replay showed clearly Marquez was never in front. He pulled his typical "all or nothing" dive up the inside. For almost any other rider, it would've worked... but he was foolish enough to try it against The Master this time. | ||

If you look at the helicopter view just before the turn Marquez back wheel is bouncing side to side and it looks as if is trajectory would be a straight line, so it kinda looked like he was trying a last ditch dive which backfired. Rossi was hitting the same line he was in previous laps. | ||

Rossi was on the racing line (perhaps he should have been on more of a defensive line?) and 93 dive-bombed the inside with no hopes of making a clean pass or even staying on track without using VR46 as a bumper. Neither happened. Rossi played it like the GOAT that he is. More than likely Marquez would have crashed if VR46 didn't stop his momentum. He almost crashed anyway. All I know is Marquez must be getting tired of the bitchslap Rossi is putting on him nowadays. What's that saying "what comes around, goes around?"

You all say what you want, I've seen every angle, watched it at least 30 times already. I've got every angle there is. Rossi came into Marquez's space and tried to occupy it. I don't dispute the win, nor would I if roles were reversed. Marc is back, see you next round. | ||

Dude, Rossi followed the racing line, the guy behind can't go into the space that the guy in front is going to occupy by staying if they stay on the correct line. Yes Rossi came down, he is entitled to do that. Marquez is entitled to try and get him to flinch and yield the space. He didn't and since he was always in front he did not gain a position by cutting the corner. He did not cut th corner on purpose but was forced into it by the overtaking rider. Race direction had it right. |
