1 mile from Newcomb's Ranch today on Angeles Crest, returning home from Father's Day with my three offspring:
The Little Woman ('cause she is), who's been along for a significant amount of those miles:
Couldn't have asked for a more perfect day, the perfect spot where it changed over, or a more perfectly running bike this weekend! Rest of the way home I started thinking hard about a UlyBolt conversion...
Stopped at Newcomb's Ranch for cold drinks, saw one of the bikes I nearly bought in '79, but bought the R100S instead:

Congratulations! 100 thousand miles, not even kilometers, that is just nuts! Here's to the next 100, hehe . |

Well done! What kind of maintenance did it take to get to 100,000? Routine or anything catastrophic? (Message edited by figorvonbuellingham on June 23, 2015) |

Nice to see and definitely a nice place to do it. I love Newcombs Ranch, haven't been there in 15 years but what a great ride! Congrats! |

That is awesome! It looks like it is ready to head to 150,000. Does it seem like it is worn out when you ride it? Or does it still feel tight enough and strong enough to continue on? I had a plan when I bought my '06 Uly new, to hit 100,000 miles then hang it as a big wall plaque in my office. If my riding had not been curtailed by the economy and other factors I'd have been there by now. It is still locked in the low 60's, but as ever always ready to run on. It still feels like a new bike. |

Thanks for all the congrats guys, but all I did was ride and wrench on it. Nothing special except for periodic wheel bearing inspections and greasings, everything else has been normal maintenance and repairs of all those niggling little issues we all know about. On my 3rd stator and 4th belt, 3rd front isolator, headlights are shot, etc., but only time it left me stranded was the BAS quit, had I known you can unplug it and ride on I would have. And I guess I sort of cheated, some of you may remember I tore it down a couple years ago for head gasket leaks, you know how that goes. Why not clean up the heads, how about this or that, put it back together and it ran great but I'd cut the pushrod cover O-rings so apart again. Decided might as well replace the barrels/pistons with new stockers so I could rebuild the originals, and put in new lifters but its otherwise a 100K engine. Still feels pretty solid though the shock could probably use an oil change. These bikes are solid, and I've always considered it a better bike than I am a rider. I'll be keeping it. Been pretty busy lately Tom so fan project is up next. Vern I hear you about the economy slowing down the riding, the first 50K on this bike happened May '06-'08, then I got slammed by the meltdown too. Took 7 years to get that other 50K. The next 50K won't take that long! And I rarely wash it, dusting off once in a while works fine! Now where's that UlyBolt pic I found... |

New barrels, pistons and lifters? No dice! Haha! Congrats, but we definitely have a different idea of what a 100K-mile engine is. |

Good job! I've had my '07 for 3 1/2 years, and I've only put 20k on it. Glad to hear that it "still feels pretty solid ...". |
