What's happening? Someone funding, or selling off the assets, or something else entirely? |

Unfortunately, no. I'll post more info as to when and where you can get one as soon as I have a firm date/time/price. |

Prices are the same for the RS, RX and SX models. This is the full race programmable unit. (Message edited by d_adams on June 26, 2015) |

Older Buell ecm's will be available very shortly, as in within weeks at the most. I _think_ they'll have pretty much every tune imaginable available, along with wideband tuning setups for guys that have custom exhaust/intake/cam differences. |

I have been a fan and supporter of their work and mission statement since their involvement with Buell began. |

Please excuse my ignorance, but who is producing and selling these? |

http://idspd.com/ The OEM for both Buell and EBR ecm's since Buell's beginnings I believe. |

They may not have updated their links as of yet, so if you'd like to order something from them, the direct link to the sales section is http://idspd.com/xcart/ |

Intelligent Design Solutions, as a business, was incorporated on May 15, 2006 (per their website). Their employees, however, have been involved with Buell product development since the beginning (under former companies). Buell chose IDS as the developer of the DDFI-3 ECM solution for 2008 and later Buell and EBR motorcycles. They support other customers as well. Maybe Tim will chime in and give more history. |

At that price? Damn. I'll be kicking myself for a long time for selling my early-EBR $150 ECM. That'll never happen. |

I think that is a very fair price. EBR sold their race ECM with cable and software for $750 |

The non tunable ECMs are $200. |

From the FAQ
quote:Q: How long have IDS employees worked with Buell Motorcycle Company™ and Erik Buell Racing™ (EBR™)? A: All production Buell™ motorcycles are equipped with ignition and/or fuel injection systems developed by our people. That includes the very early (1980s-vintage) carbureted models, tube-frame Buell™ (carbureted and fuel injected), Buell™ XB series, Buell™ 1125 series, and all EBR™ products.

That's much more reasonable, didn't realize that was one with the software and such |

I don't get this tunable vs. non-tunable ECM. The stock 1125 ECM is tunable, as were the $250 ECMs that EBR was selling, which were presumably just the stock ECMs with the aftermarket tunes loaded in them. That said, $200 for an ECM with a decent tune in it (tunable or not) is pretty reasonable. <edit> After browsing the site, it looks like these are RS/RX/SX-specific ECMs. (Externally, they look identical to the ECM on my '08 1125R.) According to the site, $200 buys an ECM with the stock tune in it. Not sure what the market is for that--who would need a stock ECM unless theirs fried? If EBR isn't "coming back", I'm all for us owners of EBR ECMs sharing our tunes, which are all shareable provided you have the cable ($30ish?) and the software (free). Here's the thing for all you folks that are uninformed. A tunable ECM is only part of the cost of a correct tune. The investment must also include the software to communicate and change the ECM as required along with the skills to do it. Then you also need a sensing system to inform the tuner of what is currently happening. That system itself can be very expensive. It would include wide band Lamda sensors, their receivers, data logging equipment and perhaps even the use of a rolling road dyno. Overall, this represents a serious investment, especially in comparison of simply buying an ECM with a performance tune close to what you need already loaded. |

Alex, If you are following this thread, perhaps you might respond with your personal insight. Alex was the lead tuner for the European Pegasus Racing Team, he has a dyno and is very experienced in this area. |

Since Buell and EBR are both gone and we are left to fend for ourselves, isn't it fairly easy for somebody who has the Race (or any other) mapping to upload it onto another ECM over the internet via remote desktop? I know Twin Motorcycles does this with their mapping for 200 Euro. Granted, the EBR mapping is IP, but the company that owned it is no longer in business. |
