Possibly purchasing a local S1W and looking for some help in figuring out just how far past original this bike has been taken. Any help appreciated. 1- the VIN does look to identify the bike as a White Lightning, though the current owner claims the original black body work was replaced by silver pieces by the PO due to bubbling. The current silver tail & wind screen have S1 decals: were older S1 body pieces direct bolt ons to the S1W, or would the frame have been modified to take these? The bike does have a silver manta tank; maybe from a silver M2? The bike has a reactor blue frame. 2- the key was relocated to just below the dash. Was this a common mod? What would I be looking at to relocate it to the left side of the frame? 3- the timing cover is an S1 Lightning cover; did the S1W get their own White Lightning cover, or did they carry the S1's? Or am I simply looking at a non-original cover? Overall, the bike is in good shape. Non-OEM controls were added to the bars and there's a god-awful K&N air filter hanging off the carb, but otherwise it doesn't appear to be too far from original. Which is where I'd like to take it back to.

Just for future reference, the body parts between an S1W and S1 are interchangeable. Though the tanks are different, they will fit. Standard S1 has the small Warrior tank and S1W has the Manta tank. Tail section and front fender are the same other than the decal. |
