Hello hope someone has a simple idea. My 2000 M2 plastic under seat rear gard or what ever it is called? has cracked into four so need replacement i have been riding it just using the plastic tail light indicator mount & 200MPH duct tape. was wondering if anyone has ever made an alloy undersea replacement that just goes over frame uses the four mount bolts under seat and mounts tail light & indicators, but not a copy of original just something strong enough and to bolt seat too like the original plastic. hope someone has an idea or have done something similar. thanks for any help |

Jim that is Partly what i mean but that is with XI i want to eliminate the seat surround and want to make something to bolt to the four bolts under seat, something sturdy that will support seat and mount the tail light & indicator, the rear frame would be exposed i know that but don't mind . does anyone have a pic of something like i could use? |

I ran mine for several months without the tail plastic (surround piece as you call it). I took the license plate plastic and bolted it in using the four rubber grommets just as you do if you were using the tail plastic. The blinkers, license plate, and tail light all bolt to the stock plastic piece. The seat sat right on the frame. It has indents so it sits secure. I grew to like the looks a bit too but got tired of it after awhile. I'm guessing you want something like the stock plastic license plate piece that bolts into those four holes but looks nicer. Something that could be made in sheet metal. |

If you're talking about the plastic undertail, I have a spare. PM me |

Thanks Jim & Coxter, right now i have it just like you described Jim, but mine only had two mount holes was a bit flimsy so wrapped 200mph duct tape to support but just need to make a stronger light mount probably alloy. i think i will just duplicate the plastic stock one only make it longer to mount in all four holes. as it suits me and how it is now with the tape it might not pass scrutineering if i go to track for bracket racing. thank you both for your help & thanks Coxter for your offer. |

I forgot it is only two holes. It shook like crazy. I was surprised it never broke. |
