Hey guys, My buddy has a leaf blower that is not being used...I was thinking that it would be good for drying my XB12S without leaving swirls in the paint....After reading about the crap that happened with the pressure washers, Im kinda worried about using any pressure devices around my bikes motor/gaskets etc... anyone using a leafblower to dry their Buell? I know a bunch of harley guys that use that method for drying their bikes I dont see where it would be a problem ...its not like its high pressure directed at a small area ... | ||

I USE MY LEAF BLOWER WHEN I WASH MY BIKE WHICH IS EVERY WEEK. I USED IT ON MY S1 ALSO. FOUND NO PROBLEMS WITH THIS METHOD OF DRYING BIKE OTHER THAN IT WORKS VERY WELL. | ||

Electric would be fine, the gas ones are two strokes, and so will spray some unburnt oil and gas with the air. | ||

DO not use a leaf blower. Reason. A leaf blower has no filter system. It sucks in dirt an blows it across your bikes paint at the speed of sound. SO dirt gets into small cracks, air filters, an worse of all paint scratches known as spider-webbing. If you do not want to use the ol' chamois they sell a special blow dryer for your bike. | ||

A leaf blower isnt going to do any more damage than riding your bike at any decent speed. And Spidey..the speed of sound? Man I gotta get me one of those mach 1 blowers  | ||

i repeat in all seriousness: why does one wish to "dry" ones motorcycle? i have wiped the water off the saddle prior to riding, but dont really understand the requirement of drying a motorcycle. | ||

Maybe it got wet whilst stationary? Maybe their bikes aren't waterproof? A "Pommy Bath" isn't good enough? dunno... | ||

I totally forgot that the bike is molded in colour plastic panels. I thought I was dealing with a painted surface....The manual says use Harley goods for all washing, but doesnt talk about drying... I guess to be safe, Ill buy a 20 dollar chamois and hope for the best... Anyone recommend a good wax for these molded in colour panels? I used to use mothers, was good. The manual says use Harley polish, or glaze... Jack | ||

I just bought one of those Mr Clean car wash kits for my Boxter. I plan to try it on my XB if it ever warms up here in Jersey (24F here this morning). It appears to be just a water filter and a soap with a sheeting agent. I'll let you know if it works. Steve | ||

The leaf blower works fine. I've been using mine for over a year. I just be careful not to spray the electronics directly. Forced air=water where you don't want it. Very hard water here in Az. Blower=no spots. I use all Harley products and I have to admit they work great. The swirl treatment has taken out many a zipper gouge and the Harley gloss is a better deal than the blue can the sport bike guys use, can't remember the name. Anyway $ per oz is better... | ||

My leaf blower has seen more blow dry duty than leaf duty. I use it on my bikes and cars. Mr. Clean system. Will still spot if done in the sun. The paint surface should be cool. It cleaned my car and bike just fine.  |
