I read through the old post on this subject from a couple weeks ago and I want to ask a couple questions as my S1 has been squirted the oil cap on a couple of occasions now and mopping up oil from my tires, swing arm, etc.. is getting old fast. Anyway, I think my corbin seat doesn't hold the plug in, is the seat supposed to keep the plug in the hole under pressure. The other thing is, there is a lot of pressure here, without the seat the thing blew out of the hole...is this normal and will it cause damage if I fabricate something to hold the plug in???

Newfie....not always too much oil. I almost got knocked in the head with my oil cap last week while checking my oil. The damn thing shot 3'+ straight up. My oil level was at it's usually level (about 1/2 up the stick). I should also mention that is the first time in 5 years that I've had that experience.

The only time that has ever happened to me is when I put too much oil in.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I think what happens is that the oil drains back to the sump where it collects, you check the oil after the bike sits for a while and voila the oil is back down in the sump. You top it up and go for a ride, check it again and POP the plug is either popped out or is about to, especially if the engine is running with the seat off.

Thats what happened to me!!!

Well my seat doesn't sit on the oil plug so what happens to me is the oil plug pops out while I'm riding and oil gets everywhere. Its happened twice. The first time I thought it was me that forgot to put it in right, this time however I know it popped out, cause I felt it hit the seat...

Good idea, but I solved the problem with a little shade tree fabrication...

Newfie....feeling a bit cranky yesterday: D

I think the reason mine almost made an impression in my forehead may have had something to do with temperature. Here's why: The outside temp is around 45 degrees. I start the bike and let it get warm. There is already cold air in the oil tank. As the oil gets warm, it expands the cold air in the tank. This causes a build-up of air pressure in the oil tank. POP! Off comes the cap.

Just a theory.

My Cyclone stopped doing that when I went from HD oil to Redline.
