Hi all I have an 06 Uly with no luggage and am looking at buying this rack: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Buell-Ulysses-XB12-X-09 -luggage-rack-some-sup-rust-see-photos-/2718483548 48 Is any additional hardware necessary to mount this to my bike? Also, what options are there for top cases that will fit this rack? Thanks. |

the top rack needs to have the side racks for support or it will break the tail section because of vibrations, and not necessarily load. one could make your own luggage racks, or fit some hepco-becker racks. happy trails is another option. |

You can't run the top case without the brackets for the side racks installed, it will break the tail section if you don't have the side racks installed. This guy found out the hard way.

Regarding your questions regarding the rack you linked, it does not appear to have the screws and bolts, so you need those (cheap at a local hardware store) That rack is the stock rack that comes on the XB12XT model, and will fit most Hepco & Becker top cases. |

Thanks all for the advice, I'll be steering clear of the rear rack unless I can get the side racks to match. Froggy certainly did a good job of convincing me. |

Pamer, you can buy the stock Uly racks from Hepco Beckers US distributor Motomachines.com. Those fit the Journey bags. You can also buy the Junior style racks from Harley Davidson. PM me if you need those part numbers. |

Buell racks are made by Hepco and Becker. AFAIK, these racks as a complete kit are no longer stocked by Harley/Buell or Hepco. The only way to purchase the HB rack is to purchase the parts by the pieces. It cost about $700 for a complete rack set by parts from Harley and ASP also has a complete new set available for about the same price. |
