Hi Everyone, I purchased a set of xb12x wheels from a member here to put off road tires on. I need a rear axle for a NON 2010 (3 bearing wheel)because my current wheel is a 2010 but my off road wheel is a 2006 wheel. Can anyone tell me what model rear axle's will fit? Thanks, Jeff |

If I'm not mistaken, you can run the older 2 bearing wheel on a 3 bearing axle, just not the other way around. Actually you can probably even run the 3 bearing wheel on a 2 bearing axle but it would be pointless since the 3rd bearing wouldn't be making contact with the axle. |

You don't need a new axle, the 3 bearing axle is backwards compatible. In fact, the 2 bearing axle was discontinued and superseded by the 3 bearing version. |

Hmmm seemed like it did not fit properly and the 2010 has a spacer on the rotor side that can't go on it. I will try it again without the spacer. Thanks, Jeff |

Yep the spacer is not needed on the older wheel. The difference between the old and new axle is that "lip" where it slopes inward is more inward on the axle, allowing room for the additional bearing race to rest. That additional space just goes unused on the older wheel. Here is what the axles look like side by side: As you see, the black axle (2010 style) has a little more meat for the wider and additional bearing races, which would just go unused with the older wheel. |
