Guess what? The discounts have started. ~$12.5k at a dealer in Virginia: http://www.wherethepoweris.com/s/search/inventory/ brand/Erik%20Buell%20Racing/availability/In%20Stoc k/class/Motorcycles/type/Street%20Bikes?utm_source =EBR%20CLEARANCE&utm_campaign=EBR&utm_medium=email (cross-post from ADVrider) |

I have been thinking- if EBR completely folds and the bikes are offered for sale, how much would I be willing to pay? I agree, I'd never go $12.5k, but I might do $8k for an SX. |

I was at the dealer a couple of weeks ago. All of the EBRs were in the back because they were in the process of not being a dealer any more. Sales guy said they couldn't move them next to the Ducatis. I've also had friends with super negative experiences with them. I wouldn't take Coleman's EBR sale prices to be anything other than Coleman's EBR sale prices. |

yes they are the ecms share the same hardware but it would take a computer genius to make one say for an 1125 work on an 1190 RX. Not sure anybody wants to spend that many hours doing it for a very limited market. |

I'll bet there are guys here who could copy the programming from a good 1190 ECM and burn it onto a spare 1125 ECM. Rather than having to do that, I'm hoping somebody will pick up the brand and at least offer support for a while or worst case, somebody will buy whatever spares are at the factory and sell them to keep the bikes running for a few years. |

That's easy. Its just soft ware. Dump it and reboot it off a copied one that works correctly. I saw on FB someone posted where a dealer was dropping to 11k on an rx and sub 10k on an sx...... |

The 7 year law, if it even exists, is pointless if a company folds You can't get blood from a turnip. You can't force a defunk company to honor warranties and parts when they are out of business. I had a legally mandated 1 year home warranty that the builder decided to avoid by declaring himself retired. Went to the insurance commission even, no luck. SOL It's also been floated that the EBR vendors that make many of the parts can continue supplying them. Not so fast. There are proprietary agreements, patents and many other factors involved that can prevent them from supplying the parts they've been making for EBR |

Even a bankrupt company has to honor the warranty agreement from the point of sale. It will fall with the receiver of EBR, or back on them if no one bites. If not it's considered breach of warranty, and the plaintiff if due a refund (less any usage fees allowable). the question is how well they choose to honor it. |

If there is no company then there is nobody to breach the warranty the way I see it. How could you get a refund if there is no company to pay it out? |

What I think most are missing is that having a warranty legally makes you a "creditor" because you are owed something by EBR, I'm sure all original purchasers will be receiving legal paperwork notifying them of this shortly. Does this mean that your SOL seeing EBR filed for protection from creditors? All depends on how things go in receivership but if the company is sold together instead of being split up I would think honoring warranties would be a requirement for court approval of the sale. If the company assets are liquidated you might be looking at a check paying you for all or more likely a portion of what you are "owed". |

Hero owns/ed 49% of EBR. What would be their obligation since they have so much skin in the EBR game? Why wouldn't they continue making EBR bikes since they have deep pockets and want to be a seller in the USA? Maybe they would have zero interest in making the RX or SX but certainly they could if Erik gave them the go ahead. Possibly they make the AX in India with super cheap labor and keep the price down. A fella can dream can't he? |

Why wouldn't they continue making EBR bikes since they have deep pockets and want to be a seller in the USA? I'm wondering if Hero didn't change their mind on coming to the US, or at least delay it a few years. That would explain why no Hero bikes have yet shown up despite their assurances and it would explain Erik's statement about expected funding for EBR falling through. |

I picked up a yellow RX #32 yesterday afternoon!!!!! I didnt get to ride it till today, I got home around midnight offloaded the bike and went to sleep. I put 55 miles on the clock commuting to and from work today, Man this bike is AWESOME!!!!! Iv kept it below 6k like the book says, I cant wait to finish the break in this motor is a beast!!!! There only one thing I do not like about it so far is the excessive slack on the throttle tube. I have quick throttles on my two other buells and the slack is messing with my emotions LOL, easy fix!!!. The dealer installed the reduced clutch kit while we took care of the paperwork, I like it 110% I didn't think it was that bad but I could see where it would get old fast in traffic. I picked up the bike for 11,608 before fees. I traded in my beyond beat and trashed 08 R6 and was able to get $2800 for that which paid for all the fees and a small portion of the bike. I ended up financing 10,077 when it was all said and done. Im in the process of selling my house and the wife finally gave me the green light to get my RX. I chose to finance to use my $ for moving expenses/ upgrades from AF1 racing LOL. EBR shut down or not I definitely do not and will not regret my purchase I love this bike!!! |

Dave I think so to if you have a lot of money that you could afford to loose. Just think NO WARRANTY, PARTS??, SOME PARTS MAYBE NEVER, ALL MOST 2YRS. OLD. I wish I could afford to take that kind of a chance I test both bikes and I loved them I wish I had that kind of extra money. You could be out $11,000 to $13,000 with tax + all other fees from dealer. |

Dennis - While you are correct, in that there is no warranty, most parts are still available. And a couple that aren't currently available...are or will be again available. Sprockets are being worked on, the "Exhaust Kit" is possibly being worked on. So far, just front disc's are not currently available. May be others including front sprockets (currently still available) also not on the "make" list. Mike |

I would think a well fitted machine shop could make the front disks. Find one and do a group by if it comes to that. Thats probably how most part are going to get made I future, if no one carries on with the bike. |

If you need a front disk, use a Braking disk. The hardware you will have to source yourself, but it can't be that hard with the old stuff handy. |

^ I think it will, or at least that's been stated on Badweb before. If that's true, you can use the aftermarket Galfer Wave rotor, the stock 1125 rotor, and I think there's at least one other aftermarket choice. |
Mackja

1125r stock rotor will work on the 1190, the Galfer will not, have to use the stock 1125 mounting hardware, 1190 uses different mounting system. You can buy the stock 5mm rotor and the 1125 upgrade 6mm rotor and use them on the 1190. American Sportbike sells both. |
Phelan

You cannot use the 1125 hardware on an 1190. There are no pockets in the wheels for the springs. Your beat bet is to take the existing 1190 hardware to a hardware shop or similar and look for suitable replacements for each piece. Or heaven forbid, reuse the stock hardware. 3 of the 4 pieces of the EBR rotor hardware are still available but they have shot up to 3X their original retail. To buy 6 of each is $180, and you still lack 6 of the one piece not available. |
