Does anyone know if there is a website that lists the actual width of tires? It will be tire time for the project bike soon and I still have no idea what will and what won't clear the belt. I have dropped down to a 5" wide rim and am figuring on a 170 60 17 tire but even the 160 60 17 tires vary over an inch in width. Any help would be appreciated. |

I run 190's on stock rims with no clearance issues. Some mfgrs. have data available: http://www.bridgestone.com/products/motorcycle_tir es/products/size/index.html |

Why would you have an issue if you dropped to a 5" wide rim you have already lost 1/2" total in width. by dropping to a 160 or 170 you have already lost approx. 10-20 mm in width across the top, the 60 is the % of the 160/170 in height. I can't see any issue with any manufacturer where you would be using a 160 or 170 tire. In my opinion |

Stirz thanks for the info, most links went to page not found, but a few did work. It would seem that Bridgestone is pretty accurate with their sizing. |

Kruizen the issue that you can't see, is the left outer edge of the tire rubbing on the belt. Hence the reduction in both rim and tire width. I will have to mount the rear pulley in closer to compensate for the reduced drive pulley offset on the Ducati motor. I should have things lined up by this weekend and will be able to take some accurate measurements. |

DS 1000 built on deep sump cases. Its the XD-9 project. Air cooled like the XB, but lighter weight and a little more civilized (I hope) |

I am currently working on adapting the rim to fit the 30mm axle. I will post a picture once I have at least one side done. |
