I apologize if this is posted in the wrong area. I have a feeling either my kickstand sensor or neutral sensor is haywire. The bike will not let the bike run in neutral with the clutch out when the kickstand is down, you have to engage the clutch. Otherwise, if you put the kickstand up it will run with the clutch out. Also, I can't start it in neutral with the clutch out like I used to be able to. I would think the bike doesn't know it is in neutral, but the neutral light on the dash comes on. So my guess is the box doesn't know it's in neutral?? The only problem with that theory is the bike will run with the kickstand up in neutral, so it has to be tied in to the kickstand sensor as well. This problem happened last year at the end of the season, and I of course put it off until now. If I remember right it happened right after the ground for my battery slipped off, or maybe it happened around the same time. I can't really remember. If I can't figure out the problem I think I will just disconnect the kickstand sensor shutoff, so if anybody has directions to bypass it, they would be appreciated. Thank you Chris |

check out the connection on the kickstand sensor.. when I look down-under my bike, that place is very dirty.. maybe you should clean everything you can down there because it might be short-circuiting with all that gunk |

Bypass the the switch. You just need to connect the two wires. A female spade connector does the trick. Stick it in the plug coming from your ecm, by the switch. Also I do the clutch switch. Mine went bad and it would shut off the ecm while I was ridding. Matt |

Facts: Ignition run = 1a sidestand up (switch closed) or 1b clutch lever pulled in (switch closed) or 1c neutral light on (switch closed) -- Anomaly 1 Resolution: Ignition needs a ground through any of the three switches. Clutch switch should be OK, Sidestand switch don't know, neutral switch don't know. Sidestand switch is connected to diode 1; neutral switch is connected to diode 2. Test diode 1 & diode 2 and wiring in between. Anomaly 2: "I can't start it in neutral with the clutch out like I used to be able to. " Facts: Starter run = 2a clutch lever pulled in (clutch switch closed - ground bypasses diode 2 & neutral switch) or 2b neutral light on (ground goes through diode 2 & neutral switch closed) -- Anomaly 2 Resolution: Starter needs a ground through either clutch switch closed or neutral switch closed. Neutral light works but diode 2 between neutral switch & starter may be bad. Test diode 1 & diode 2 & wiring in between. Anomaly 3: "The only problem with that theory is the bike will run with the kickstand up in neutral, so it has to be tied in to the kickstand sensor as well." -- Anomaly 3 resolution: No anomaly at all. See Anomaly 1 Resolution item 1a. How about spending $60 or so on the Factory Service Manual for your bike.
