No only Danny is a former Buell rider. Geoff is a former? EBR rider. Josh never road Buells in competition that I am aware of. It was a great race. It amazes me how DMG can put on great races but screw up a series as bad as they did. |

I thought it was CCS and ASRA that put on the race today... That's what I heard during the live stream... |

I just got back from the race. It was a nail biter right to the end. Many laps the lead changed several times in the same lap. Geoff was really on kill today. He certainly proved beyond a doubt that he brought plenty of game. Now I go nurse my sunburn. |

Neil you are probably correct but I think Daytona Motor Group is in there in the background someplace. It was there website we got the live streaming from to watch the race. By the way are you going to venture up here to Woodburn for the motorcycle race in August? |

Geoff started riding the Buell 1125rr for two years, then got on the EBR 1190rs, and 1190rx. Josh has never ridden a Buell or EBR in competition, of course Danny has road both also. |

Dana, Did a little checking, and this article... http://www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com/Ticket s-Events/Events/2015/DAYTONA-200/Daytona-200.aspx and this one... http://asraracing.com/news.html ... seem to say it was an ASRA/CCS/ Daytona Int'l Speedway cooperative effort... Is DMG part of DIS?? What dates in August? Is that going to be the All Harley guys, or NHRA, or? Might be interested in spectating, won't want to race myself... Still recovering from hernia surgery so my play/drag M2 Cyclone is not even ready for the local track yet, though I am working on it :-) |

Neil it is my understanding that DMG and Daytona international speedway are all owned by the same people the France family that owns NASCAR. The Bike race in late August is what Woodburn did after AHDRA closed down after the 2012 season. They have an all bike race with Top Fuel Harleys and Pro Mod bikes and some other classes to go along with it. They also have Funny Cars to lay down rubber on the track. It is probably the biggest bike only race on the west coast. Well almost only with the Funny Cars. |

Sounds like fun, Maybe I'll get as many Buell riders together as I can and make a weekend out of it. Back to Daytona... I was so glad to see Geoff battling it out for first place all race long, tho it was a bummer to lose because of a zip tie. I've met both Danny and Geoff when they were riding Buell's/EBR's, so I thought it was great to see them out front. Congrats to both of them!! |

What an exciting race and day! Nice to see Danny win his second. Got to meet Geoff May right before the race during the fan pit walk. Very friendly, and he made sure to remind me to find my name on his bike before the start of the race. Yeah he held the lead several times and was held back by a few slower riders several times. I just could not believe he was in the top three all race long. There were several red flags. I moved around during the red flags to get different view points. The last spot was a nice viewing point (see in video). Weather was great, too great, I got burned. There was no shade, note for next year. There was a spot I watched the race last year from that had shade, but they closed it this year! Would not let fans go there. Have no idea why. It's right opposite the pit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7bY3ZBzRKo

Talked to Geoff during the fan walk. It's a shame they changed it up this year for Rolex watch. They awarded the watch to the race winner instead of the pole winner, like they have in the past. |

Did anyone who attended get any pictures of the fan names on the bike? I'd like a copy of said pictures if they exist. It'd be cool to have for posterity. |

There were a lot of great things about this race. Geoff's privateer effort, and his success was probably the best. But the coverage on Fan's Choice was great too, as was the Daytona News and Updates facebook page. It provided a bunch of behind the scenes pictures and stories that you probably wouldnt' get even if you were there. It also drew 3000 members in about 2 days. In a sport that suffers from people staying away in droves, few sponsors, and honestly, not much return for the sponsors, this was sort of a breath of fresh air. Maybe more information like this would actually pull a few more fans in and make it worth while for companies to kick in the money and give racers rides. I can only imagine what would happen if some company actually approached racing this way. Makes you wonder doesn't it? |

IMHO, it may be best that the Daytona 200 become a boutique race that would attract the sponsors and big names that it used to. Also, there should be a re-introduction of the superbikes instead of the 600's and ditch the DOT tires. |

From what I understand they had some kind of failure of the fuel can quick fuel setup. Splashed fuel on Geoff, the bike, and the fueler. |

I disagree on bringing back the superbikes. It was getting far too dangerous. We had one of the WSMC racers, Cory Eaton who was posting daily back then and said that the bikes were sliding both ends ON THE BANKING. Too much time on the ragged edge of a crash for 200 miles. Problem with coming off on the banking - unlike a flat track is the bike and your body won't leave the race line as would happen on a conventional course. Daytona 200 has the history and following but is a peculiar race. "THE 200" this year was a good last minute event with coverage thanks to Fanschoice.tv (Message edited by slaughter on March 19, 2015) |

In Geoff's interview afterwards, he said a zip tie broke and got stuck in the gas cap. Took him until midway through the high bank to have hit it enough times to fall in the tank. By then, he was off the pace. Good that he had the presence of mind to fix it while riding at close to race pace. |
