Dusted off the Uly yesterday for the first time this year. Been so damned cold, and so much crap on the roads (frozen crap)...even I haven't tried to ride. But we finally thawed out, so I broke ol' Big Bird out of the garage. Yesterday, wasn't sure if the ol' bird was handling funny, or if I was just out of practice, or if there was still too much salt on the roads...or all of the above. Today, different route home, and some bump steer nearly sent me into a ditch! hm. This route takes me past a Sheetz...and they have free air. PR3's, usually run 38/40 front/rear. Checked the front with my gauge... !!!!TWENTY FOUR PSI!!!!. Holy CRAP. The rear was low, but not as bad - 36 back there. Handles MUCH better now! Worst part is...I KNOW BETTER. |

Hahaha, exact same thing happened to me.. 23 front, 25 rear ...felt like I was wrestling with a drunk elephant for the first 1/4 mi down the road.. couldn't get back to my compressor fast enough |

Yes, ALWAYS check your tire pressure before a ride if it's been sitting for a while. Thanks for reminding us why it's important. |

Ratbuell, Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. You forgot your T-CLOCS. For those who have not taken a MSF course, T-CLOCS stands for Tires, Controls, Lights, Oil, Chassis, and Stands. |

I think my record for forgetting to check the pressure was 9psi. I drove less than a block before figuring it out though. Felt like my ironhead was pushing a snowplow |

"Yes, ALWAYS check your tire pressure before a ride if it's been sitting for a while." Leave out the "if it's been sitting for a while" part and you got it. Check them before every ride. Maybe I'm paranoid, I've had more flats on my ULY than all the other street bikes I've had combined. |

Have seen people going on a holiday ride and did not bother to check the tire pressure! |

I'm right there with you Rat! Did that last year! As soon as I hit the street I knew they were low but I didn't have time so I wrestled it to work and aired up there. Much nicer ride on the way home!! These things are amazing, just a couple of pounds and you can feel it, several pounds and it's like riding a dirt bike in the sand! |

Yeah, I did my usual pre-flight...but it was a mid-season preflight. Visual. Dammit. |

Rat, first flight for me today on the Uly as well. I did the EXACT same thing! Although mine weren't as low as yours were. Bad enough though to know something was wrong. I was down about 10 on each end... I was in a hurry to get to a store before they closed... Dumb mistake. |

got home early from work so fired up my XT for the first time since about Nov.. front tire down 6# rear down a few.. rode down the street but my dog started running behind so I came back home.. never had such climate change in Mpls, we should still have a heavy blanket of snow but it's like May 1st. everything is brown. I didn't have to shovel the roof all winter! might ride away tomorrow! |

This reminds me of my last dealer visit about 2 yrs ago after a long winter break. I took the Uly in to have the intakes replaced due to a leak. I noticed on the ride over that the front tire was pretty low. I told the tech & asked him if he could check/fill the tires while they had it....he said they ALWAYS check the tires before returning a bike to the customer. When I picked up the bike about 2 weeks later, I rode it out of the shop, turned onto the main road & could barely make the turn. Did a u-turn right back to the dealership & asked if I could top off the tires my damn self...giving the tech the "i'll never believe you again" look. |

Don't feel bad. I did that same thing. But I was just warming it up in the garage and realized it. Rolled it back, check the pressure and front was at 24lb, rear would not register. Got them both up to pressure and put on a nice 40 miles. Yup, we are the like the rest of MN, totally in shock of 75 degrees. 150 miles on sleds last weekend, 40 miles on bike this weekend! I'm not holding my breath though. Mid-March or early April is always snow storm time. It isn't over yet. But we will enjoy it while we can. |

I crammed in as much riding as I could this past week, just shy of 1K on a few bikes..Being in northern MN, you do what you can.. I would be surprised if we didn't get another snow storm before the end of April |

Well, from what I hear it is snowing on the north Shore today. They are forecasting 4-6" over the next week in the northern half of MN. It's March, anything can happen. At least it is warm enough that most of it should melt quickly. |
