I'm going to be replacing a pushrod o-ring, so off comes the head. I can see that to remove the head, I'd have to unbolt the isolator bracket from the rubber isolator assembly, all while leaving the "do not remove" bracket attached the head. That's what I'd like to do... But, since I'm going to have it all apart and have a top end gasket kit ready to go, I'd like to replace the valve seals with newer viton ones as well as lapp the valves...

Is it possible to remove the exhaust valve spring assembly with a spring compressor etc, without removing the "do not remove" isolator bracket? Looks like it may be in the way, but I'm hoping some of the been-there-done-that folks already know!

thanks!

you know what, i did a little poking around here on the forums and found this post from several years back:

"I need to remove the "do not remove" bracket in order to get my spring compressor onto the valve spring. The "do not remove" bolts would not turn at all. Any hints on getting those loose?

Gearheaderiko: You'll need to put the head in a vice because if on the floor a breaker bar wont work (the torque on those bolts is 60ft lbs=tight!). I'd first try to use the valve spring compressor with the bracket on though. It can be done (depending on the spring compressor). Sometimes its just about finding the right angle to work on. Having it in a vice or held up on a work bench helps. (I'd hate for you to pull that bracket off and find it wasnt necessary)"

Thanks to Gearheaderiko's knowledge above, i'm going to try that as well, compress the spring without removing the bracket from the head... good stuff!

I'm very happy to have helped. People will read old posts and that's why I tend to be a little long winded and over informative at times!!!!

The best part is your experience will help someone else and maybe even add a trick or two to the process
