I noticed an EBR dealer post on Facebook that mentioned EBR would be offering as a goodwill the X3086.1B7 Reduced Effort Clutch Kit for all 2014 1190RX and 1190SX bikes - both unsold and customer owned bikes. This has been confirmed as being accurate by both the dealership I bought my 1190RX from and from a friend that's a contact at a dealer in Europe, so it is a worldwide campaign! I'm just posting this here to get the word out for those who don't do Facebook. SPLENDID MOVE EBR! 1313 |

Dmhines, check with the EBR dealer you bought your kit from. I have it on good authority that EBR will offer a credit for those that have already purchased the kit. Heckuva move if you ask me! |

I'm not going to say anything, and see if my dealer will reach out to ME. Anyone else feel like this the kind of thing the dealer should be making us aware of? |

I notice that EBR store has the kit listed as OUT OF STOCK on their website. AF1 has completely removed the part from their web Store. I bought my RX from Black Widow Harley in Florida ... lets see if they call me .. doubtful. |

The dealers . . . and they could learn a lesson from Ford and the GT-40 recall . . . .should be leveraging this as a HUGE marketing opportunity. Hell . . . . I'd be calling customers, who didn't even buy from me, offering to perform the upgrade. Goodwill is worth more than most folks can imagine. |

Poor form on my part... I should've quoted the post on Facebook originally. So, to right my wrong, from Jim Walkers Motorcycles/EBR Motorcycles of Daytona: "EBR is pleased to offer the Reduced Effort Clutch kit (X3086.1B7) for all 2014 model year 1190RX and 1190SX models as part of a goodwill campaign made available on a voluntary basis at no charge to the customer or dealership for installation of this kit on 2014 model year motorcycles. This campaign applies to dealership inventory and customer owned motorcycles." I agree it would be a good sales/marketing tool! Apparel, parts, accessories, potential future bike sales, and word of mouth 'one of the good dealers' advertising. Even though it is 'on a voluntary basis' it would sure benefit dealers to be proactive. Goodwill is worth more than most folks can imagine. Pretty much a cornerstone for brand loyalty, IMHO... 1313 |

What's the consensus for required effort on the original clutch pull? Anyone else measured it? What's the new pull required? I used a fish scale to see what mine was, but I know it's not exactly scientific (or 100% accurate) so I wanted to see what everyone else is seeing. |

The new pull is definitely lighter ..and now that is free its a no brainer ... I did not take any actual measurements. |

Cool. Mine was about 37 lbs, we shall see what it is when I get it back. They're doing a couple of other things as well, so it will be a week or so I think. |

Anyone hear of some sort of time frame? My bike is buried behind 10' of snow right now. It will be awhile until i can get my bike out. BTW my dealership has not contacted me in regards to this yet. |

There's a 1 year window to get it done. Dealers _should_ contact the owners, although I called about this last week on Tuesday to set up getting mine done. For whatever reason, they didn't make contact until this week on Monday. Bike was picked up on Wednesday, work was already scheduled for either yesterday or today. I have a couple of other minor issues to have resolved at the same time and it's 15 degrees here today, so if I don't get it back until next week it's fine. Next week however, it's supposed to get up into the mid to upper 60's, so I'll definitely be wanting it back by Monday or Tuesday at the latest. I'm ready to go RIDE! PS, I did get a copy of the bulletin that was sent out, it's 4 pages long and is a "goodwill campaign" not a recall. |

HUGE difference in effort required to pull in the clutch now. Going by the non-calibrated fish scale, it's at 18 lbs now. Much better! |

Your grip will get much weaker now. People pay good money to get stronger and you want to get weaker. HA HA |

I had a heck of a time on the clutch pull riding in the crazy traffic at Bike Week! I do not know how many lbs. of force it takes but it is a bear in traffic! I put close to 700 miles on it while in Florida, ready for the first service on it, too bad my dealer is 3 1/2 hours away. I will be scheduling it for the service and clutch work asap! Spring weather is almost here, needs to have a few days of rain to wash all the salt and sand off the roads here in northern Michigan. Then it's time to ride! |

It's been 10 days that I called my "Aurthorized EBR" dealer in Mason , Michigan to schedule getting the clutch replaced and 1st check up. The service guy said he really wasn't up on the EBR products and had no idea how long it would take to get the parts nor how long it would take to do the job. I told him since I live 3 1/2 hours away that I wanted to schedule it so I could bring it in early and take home the same day. How long can the job take,I guess I should just order the parts from EBR and do it myself! They did call me back two days layer said they are still in process of getting the info! |

EBR removed the clutch kit from their store. Took me about 2 hours to install mine l. Now that I've done it already could do it in less than an hour. |

It's an easy project. Anyone that is mechanically inclined could handle it. It does not take long. I swapped out two slave cylinders in my 1125. |

I looked in the store on the EBR web site and didn't find it, guess that means I gotta take it in for the service. I figured if I can do the valve adjustment on my 1125, doing a clutch swap is tons easier. If I do not hear from my dealer on the clutch soon, I will contact NRHS and see if I can purchase from him and do it myself. I could live with clutch, but getting into traffic with that clutch is no fun on a old mans hand, just saying. lol |

i haven't worked on an RX yet, but I've replaced several slave units and a set of springs on 1125s. Easy-peasy, worst was bleeding the clutch at the end. I assume these slave units still have a locator bump that mates with the cover. watch it. Z |

Resurrecting this thread for the moment to ask questions. My memory must be gone. I installed the kit in my RX right after I got it. Have the packaging with the stock parts to prove it. But can't recall any details of the process. Maybe that means it was a non-event, maybe it's an Alzheimer's symptom. So, going to install a NOS kit in the SX now. Have zero hydraulic pressure on the clutch right now. Since I have to dig into it anyway to figure out why, figured to put the kit in at the same time. Questions: 1. Drain oil required or no? 2. Clutch fluid all drains out or no? 3. Kit says about a special tool. Don't recall having to use one before (see above re: Alzheimers...) but it looks like an allen wrench with a pass-through socket will be fine. Correct? I don't recall the process as I said, but vaguely recall leaving the stock springs and just replacing the slave cylinder as that was the hot tip at the time for reduced effort, but decent clutch engagement retained. Anyone with a better memory, I appreciate some help. And, yes, going to try bleeding first to not introduce a variable to stay out of the rabbit holes troubleshooting after install. |
