So a technical problem forced Nick to crash in the race .. big dissapointment in my book..That was the 2nd technical proble of the weekend Of course Nick is pshing his egnine harder than Larry does. Maybe because of the draft, Nick's engine was revving higher than usual...and boom.. I think this hapened in Daytona for EBR....... I hope Nick does not loose his confidence and faith in his bike . that would be a disaster.... The new rules are great ! Also new talented riders have joined WSBK.. Torres Vandermark and Terol are the stars of the future..... D-Adams...about the exhaust..your post makes sense...BUT I am sure ARROW has the technical abilities to make an underlungg exhast that passes the dB limits... The ARROW sticker will still be there on the EBR WSBK bikes.. and erikbuellracingcom could start selling these ARROW underslung exhausts. So everybody wins..... BUT first of all EBR must fix the reliability isseus first... It is bad when techical poblems force riders tto crash and injure themselves (Message edited by vagelis46 on February 22, 2015) |

It's more of an angle thing, with the sound going up more than to the side, the microphones don't register it as being as loud as the side outlet under the bike. No sound reflections off the ground at all with the Arrow exhaust mounted as it is. As far as making it quiet within the space allowed under the bike, that's why the stock one looks like it does. There's multiple chambers, as well as a catalytic converter in there, which contributes to it's 19.5 lb weight. Having both isn't really an option. It's either quiet and heavy or lightweight and louder. |

BUT first of all EBR must fix the reliability issues first... It is bad when technical poblems force riders to crash and injure themselves I'm sure there are many technical problems other than the engine that could result in a crash. HOPEFULLY we'll learn some more in the upcoming weeks and HOPEFULLY their engine issues are behind them. |

Vegelis: "Of course Nick is pushing his engine harder than Larry does. Maybe because of the draft, Nick's engine was revving higher than usual...and boom.. I think this happened in Daytona for EBR......." Probably true but that brings an important question to mind. What about rev limiters? They used to be dramatic in their function, as in cutting ignition abruptly and causing a dramatic shift in handling of any car, bike, boat, etc. But I understand now they have soft limiters that allow you to keep pretty good control of the engine, consequently the vehicle. Aren't most race vehicles using some sort of soft rev limiter now to keep from over reving? Or could it be, in downshifting the engine over revs anyway? Bob |

Bob Yes, even street bikes have "soft" limiters now, but abruptly downshifting at speed or missing a shift can still over-rev an engine with catastrophic consequences. |

Only having drag raced and did minor motocross & flat track racing as a kid I cannot believe the tremendous amount of awareness & concentration it must take to race at a level of AMA, World SB, MotoGP, NHRA, NASCAR, SCCA, F1 cars or any of the world class racing that these guys & gals do. Hats off to ALL of them. They are all outstanding world class racers. |

Mr. Eslick holds the title of "The only person to damage an 1125 to the point of getting a black flag without actually "blowing the motor up". He over revved enough to kill the valve guide seals, which resulted in much exhaust smoke and the black flag. The engine still ran fine. But he did have a couple that the oily parts exited the motor. |

Article on the Phillip Island races with a couple of interesting tidbits regarding EBR: https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2015/02/23/2015-w orld-superbike-phillip-island-commentary-upsidedow nside/ According to this, Larry's front tire started to fail in the first race implying he could have done much better. Canepa apparently ran as high as 13th (highest I saw on the live timing feed was 15th) prior to his crash. |

Ok, so this one has me wondering about all the rules. I was under the impression that the purpose of the belly pan was to capture any fluids, whether it's oil, fuel or antifreeze. I was also under the impression it had to be able to capture a specified amount of said fluids, say 1 gallon or w/e. Is this not the case? Why are the Ducati's not running with a full belly pan like everyone else is? Special dispensation due to the exhaust placement? Seems like a valid argument for the EBR bikes as well, so what gives?

^^ Maybe the there is a "roof" above the mufflers and the belly pan can actualy capture fluids ....maybe not ... So Dean since you are an exhaust expert, what do you think of the solution in the photo that I post. Will this solution make the underslung exhaust more quiet for the EBR in the WSBK , since there is a longer pipe length ? Also the longer pipe length will have advantages to the power of the bike ??

Hi again, FYI, I have got some more photos from Phillip Island if you want to have a look.. They are only JPEG's on the Website, still have the 20 MB originals. Steve http://img.gg/Kyq9Ohz |

Great pics, Steve. Thanks much for posting. Your pics confirm Larry used the ISO front brake all weekend- that's good to know. |

Great picts! I am really surprised at how tall the bikes are setup. I can tell by the clearance of the bellypan that the ride hight is 15-20mm higher than how my 1190RS racebike is setup. My ride height numbers came from the AMA race team and I often scrape the edge of the belly pan in corners where there is the slightest bump. I'm going to investigate further. |

Robrob , last year there was the information that the WSBK EBR bike had to be setup high, because there was an exhaust mounted to the side of the bike. The exhaust was necessary for the EBR to pass the noise limitations in many WSBK tracks. The underslung exhaust that was used in the AMA was too laud and could not be used in WSBK. But that increase of the ride height was considered a bad solution that reduced the handling potential of the bike. True or not ...we do not know ... This year EBR got a new side exhaust with modification to the pipes that was supposed not to force an increased ride height.... But now you say that the EBR in Philip Island is still set up too high..... Who can give us the true story ? |

I just found Team Hero/EBR's webpage. It's updated and includes some very large format pictures suitable for wallpaper: http://www.teamheroebr.com/media/ Canepa's umbrella girl gets my vote!

Who can give us the true story ? I knew about the issue from last year, which is why I was surprised. But... I have expert info that my bike is not that far off from the WSB bikes after all. I'm runnin the same shock length, but Penske. My front springs are a little lighter but not much (I don't brake nearly as hard I'm sure). They run different forks, so hard to equate, but my length from bottom clamp to axle is short a few mm, but I've been feeling that the bike is still a little nose down anyway, so that will change. So my scraping the pan is probably more from the super bumpy tracks I'm on than anything else. The general numbers they are running now are not very different than what I got from the RS race team in 2013. |

He moved into 13th spot for about half a lap. I was fist pumping, but it was short lived unfortunately. |
