X1 engine with 6k miles in a M2. I thought I had my miss solved, but the front plug still looks like it has some oil and there is still a miss. I am going to go ahead and take the top end off this weekend. Depending on what I find I may just replace all seals and gaskets or if needed get a 1250 kit and put it back together. Any recommendations for gaskets and maybe the 1250 kit ? |

yep, if you end up wanting or needing a 1250 kit, go with the guys that ride our Buells in Colorado every day . Gaskets and seals I say Cometic for sure. |

Ross, I love Cometic sets but hate their rocker cover gaskets. I can never get the damn things to seal.. I usually wind up using stockers for the upper rockers or XB style. |

+100. Definitely worth switching to XB rocker box covers while you have it apart. |

One head was full of carbon - my problem. NRHS cylinders, pistons, gaskets ordered. Having the head re-done locally. I am hoping to put this together and ride for 50K. |

Should be easily doable! |

Was it a black highlighted kit? I think I put it together today for ya! It was one of the few things I got done today as I came home early from still being weak and sore from puking my guts out over the weekend (some sort of 24 hr bug). |

When I ran a compression gauge on my engine, one cylinder was below spec. The other was above spec. I suspect heavy carboning in the higher compression cylinder. Just looking into the exhaust port it's SUPER sooty. |

Yes it was phelan Dan said you were not feeling good. Mine was the missing and I heard clicking from the valve - the seal was leaking just enough to cause me problems. |

Mine had two issues. Ran fine but had significantly more vibration than it should have (one extra stout impulse vs one weaker impulse) and it was down on power compared to where it should be. Could just barely get it above 100 MPH. It was also a bear at low RPMs. With all the carbon, I'm sure that at least one of the cylinders had bad valve guide seals. |

Yeah that'll cause issues on both accounts! Yeah I've been in bed all day since I got home, trying to replenish my fluids and eat solid foods again. I lost 9 lbs in fluids Saturday night so I was badly dehydrated. |

Mark if you don't want to post it, I understand, because of all the consternation it seems to cause and you could PM me, but where did you do the heads,..Hayward,...Petaluma,...San Francisco? |

Hi jayvee There is shop in Vallejo called Ride On it is right off 80 like your going to the shipyard. The owners were ex Vallejo HD guys and at least one of them is a Buell guy and actually knows EB and my understanding is also a board member here. He farmed the heads out - not sure to who but I believe he is knowledge and fair otherwise he would not survive in vallejo. I can let u know how it turns out. |
