Yeah, when I had Terry Parsley dyno my bike while he was still at Vallejo H.D. he used the $80 version of Motion Pro: http://www.cycleworld.com/2012/07/10/motion-pro-90 -degree-hex-driver-tool-time/ I'm sure it worked better. Hmm, the price is down to $54 too. | ||

How often are you having to adjust your carb? Just because it's hanging out there easily accessible does not mean you are supposed to dink with it all the time. Once it's dialed in for your elevation and riding style, leave it alone...they don't go out of adjustment on their own. | ||

OLD SCHOOL: With engine cold, lightly seat idle needle screw ... Back out idle needle screw 2 1/2 turns ... With engine at operating temperature, bike in up right position set engine idle at 1000 RPM ... "NOW" GO RIDE SAFE AND HAVE FUN !!! Be sure to let us know how much enjoyable the rides are !!! | ||

I have a Bobby Wood cv 43.5 still hard to get at idle mixture screw, but Bobby uses a few trick's in setting carb up i've seen some before, but one of his idea's is to drill small hole in butterfly alows you to run idle leaner. his carb get great economy & feel smooth responsive at all rev's. but you can burn your hand setting that screw. i think what Buellistic does sounds good just have to modify a small screw driver, i tried the 90 degree drive screwdriver my friend uses with his bike dyno was still hard. you might only do it once, But it should be done! | ||

When I was using the Keihin carb. I always used Buellistic's method, always worked great on the CV40 and CV44. Now that I use a Mikuni,it's a non-issue.  | ||

I have done the old school method slightly bottom out and then backout 2 1/2 turns. At idle once in a while I get the carb fart and almost dies - does not happen when warm and running down the freeway. This is a 2000 X1 engine in a M2 with idle jet 46 and main of 200. New intake gaskets. Will check for leaks/plugs and go back to the 48 idle. How are the Mikuni carbs different from the CVs? | ||

I went ahead and bought one of the motion pro ones mentioned by Jayvee for $54. If you ever want to use to it - make a trip a Vallejo. | ||

I bought the motion pro screw driver, and it was useless to me: I could not tell between the A/F screw and the binding of the screw driver even with the ball bearing removed. I wound up removing the carb and using a simple screw driver to adjust 2 and 3/4 turns out and leaving it. | ||

Thanks for reporting back on the right angle screw driver. I started at 2-1/2 turns and it was still a little lean. I am now at 2-3/4 turns, runs great. The bike is still cold natured, but after 15 minutes all is good. |
