My back is all horked up... I'll probably take a leisurely jaunt down to Wilhoit or maybe Wickenberg via 89 tomorrow anyway though.

Well guys,
It seems nobody is in the riding mood anymore...
I went to Sonoita this morning with my neighbor, Stu. He rides a '01 GSXR 750. We had a great time getting out there, and 'were' having a great time on the way back, until this bastard in a cadillac decides to make a left turn in front of Stu. He tried to swerve around the guy and hit the gravel on the side of the road on a left hand turn. He ended up high-siding, and sliding into a Dump truck that was parked there. He ended up getting medivaced out by 'copter. (boy did that bring back memories, where's my M60?) He's at UMC now, with a couple of broken ribs, and a punctures lung. He'll survive. We were riding together, about 100' apart with me in the front. That bastard thought he could squeeze in between us and make his turn. FOOL! Then he had the balls to say, he wasn't even trying to turn, that he was just driving by and pulled in to help. Fortunately, there were about 5 bikes behind him that had to hit the brakes because he stopped so suddenly and then turned. They saw the whole thing unfold.
So... Once again, another of us has gone down. Please remember friends, ride safe, and be aware...
Ride hard, ride free, and ride to LEAN !!!

Sorry to hear that Art...

Should we all get together and pay both parties involved a visit?

Damn Bart...that sucks. I hope your neighbor has a quick recovery and the prick in the Caddy gets his! Did the cops bust the guy?

I'm gonna get my tire mounted this week and run mismatched. I'll be up for a ride next Sunday. Maybe a run up Mt. Lemmon?

Stu is in room 7532, at the University Medical Center, (UMC), he could use some cheering up. I just talked to his girlfriend, he does have a fractured neck, so the neck brace has to stay on...
If your gonna give the OTHER party a visit, PLEASE KICK HIS ASS!!!!
the guy was a typical MORON that claimed he never saw the bike. The cop was upset that all he could do was ticket him, and let him go. He made sure that I got all the paperwork needed to pursue a case against the guy. The accident was ALL his fault, the bikes behind the car saw the whole thing.
I'm heading up there to visit him again, he's pretty doped up on morphine right now.

After I replace my tires I'll make a trip down there.

You mentioned a fractured neck... I assume he still has feeling in his toes or you would have mentioned that?

Oh yea, he has plenty of feeling, all over... : )

At the scene of the accident, he was bitching us out because we would not let him sit up. Kept him down, because we didn't know what internal injuries he may have. He complained of chest pains in his left chest, (fractured ribs, punctured lung) but wasn't really bitching about his neck. HE took his own helmet off. He was wearing sneakers, (which isn't a smart thing to do when your sport-riding) but I've seen alot of youngsters do it. His right foot has alot of rash on it, but it will heal. He is only 26. Tonight he was spirited, and bitching out the nurses, so I assume he will heal up ok. He was asking about his bike. The whole right side is rashed, apparently, when he went into the gravel, the rear tire locked up, and he started sliding sideways, then highsided and he got pitched off. The bike only slide on the right side, and the damage is limited to that. I started it up, and took it around the parking lot, it seems ok mechanically, just lots of cosmetic damage.

As a whole he has come out of this alive, and doing well. It could have been much worse. After talking to the DPS officer, I am going to insure that STU pursues this legally and bones that asshole for everything he's got. Maybe he can get his GSXR fixed up right, AND purchase a BUELL !!!

If ya want to cheer him up, drop him an email at the hospital, the link is: http://www.umcarizona.org Click on the patients link, and the second down is a link to send email to patients. His name is Stewart Bryson, in room West-7532. He is in the Air Force and just got back from Afganistan two weeks ago. he is doing his part to protect our freedoms. I'm not sure what he'll think about strangers calling him, but I'm sure he will appreciate encouragement in the form of email.
Thanks for your support guys !!!

the a--hole? Let me know if I can help out with anything to make Stu's stay more comfortable.

Yea,
we got the plate number and all the info on the idiot.
I'll be talking to his insurance tomorrow for him, and visiting him throughout the day.
Send him an email to cheer him up, I'm sure he'd like to hear some of your words of wit!

Damn I go have the best birthday I have celebrated in 20 years and come back to this. We seriously were thinking of going up through salt canyon, she really loves riding on the back and the feel of the bike leaned over.

Art, email sent.

Put the new Endurance Intake and "Puke Can" on last night. Installed the Carbon Fiber Accents.
The X1 is starting to take shape! Putting in new rocker box cover gaskets this week and possibly a new front tire. Should be able to rock&roll for the week-end if the gaskets arent too big of a problem. I need a key for the rear tail section for the S2. Guy I bought the bike from lost the key. I'd like to check the oil before I go on a run with it!

AL,
I want to swing by and look at that Endurance setup. I'm heading out to the hospital in a few, and then swinging by the shop after. I'll give you a call around 1100 hrs. OK? I'll get all my round keys together and we'll see what we can do about that tail lock, so you can check your oil.

I sent Stu a mail and told him we can heal together. I went down today...

The whole thing was so stupid! I was heading off base out a gate I rarely use and as I was coming to the light it turned green. One of those situations where I matched speed with the cars just getting the green as I approached them. Well I was proceeding behind the cars making a left turn and out from under the car in front of me appears the gravel that got me. Looked like a gravel dumptruck emptied it's load right there in the intersection!

I swerved to try and avoid it but ended up making the whole deal worse... I hit the gravel in a lean and the bike shot out from under me sending my knee into the pavement. I avulsed my knee (pretty good flap of skin) and my flight suit zipper poked a hole through the wound clear through and into my knee. Did the whole day long ER thing watching the doc stuff gauze literally through the hole and into my knee and out again, X-rays, etc. Other than that a possible crushed patella (the jury is still in), and minor road rash is all I ended up with. Like Bart said, GEAR IS GOOD!

Today is my sixth wedding anniversary. Imagine that phone call. Happy anniversary honey, I just wrecked your bike! Luckily the damage was minimal, I think my knee took the brunt of it. Broken shift lever, mirror scuffed, need new handgrip, and clutch lever. You all have NO IDEA how happy I was to see that he frame and bodywork went unscathed! I don't think I ever would have retrieved my balls from the mantle otherwise. LOL.

I'll be OK in a few weeks and so will the bike so all is well. Worst part is light duty chits are a curse in the Marine Corps. Totaled my bike last year, now this this year; I hope I can survive this once a year trend. Both times were attributed to gravel on Yuma's crappy roads. I need to move someplace where the city cares about these things when you call them on it...

Ride safe all,
Charlieboy
