99x1, That would be awesome! My bike is sitting in the Princess cinema building in waterloo without a tire currently, but once it's on the asphalt (and snow) I'll let you know. Next good day out, we'll have to head out on a ride (it'd be nice to have more than one buell out at the bike shows) chris |

I hope it stays nice. I just installed a new aftermarket clutch and can't wait to try it! I've got a new rear tire that needs scuffing too . |

I went for a little test ride before work today and my bike is running like crap. Full throttle brought on sputters and coughs and its not running smoothly under three grand. After work I took a look at it. Used a jumper wire on the data link to flash the trouble codes....got code number 13. Bad O2 sensor. I just replaced it last week? Maybe I got a bad one? Jon, is there a way to test the O2 sensor with a torch and a volt meter? To hell with DDFI, Ohms Law and evil binary numbers. When removing the O2 sensor I noticed a tiny bit of oil drooling off the rear cylinder fins. My rear head gasket is on the way out. Oh joy! Lornce, looks like I'll be talking to Donny about some head work, a big inch kit, and removal of the cursed DDFI. Pass his number on please. I need to give him a call. I'll fire the bike up in the morning and test her out. If its not running any worse or spewing massive amounts of oil I'll be at the "Ice Hut" for 11:00. K....we'll do our best to be in Belfountain around 1:00. Have you a cell phone number? Mine is 905 630 0443. If I have troubles with the bike I'll post again in the morning. |

The O2 sensor can be tested with a propane torch and a voltmeter - the O2 sensor generates a voltage when heated to over 600 degs (like an oxygen fuel cell battery). With the meter negative connected to the threaded portion, and the positive in the connector, when heated with the propane torch the voltage should go to >0.8 volts within a few seconds, and then drop rapidly when the flame is removed. I'm putting together a DDFI kit - I have a spare ECM, making the head/intake sensors, a bypass for the bank angle sensor, and am going to add a (tested good) O2 sensor. The O2 sensor ground connection depends on the exhaust connection at the heads (the exhaust system hangs on rubber). Got my rear wheel back together yesterday (sleeved hub and new bearings), and stopped at store for a Coke - bike wouldn't start. Battery dead, regulator gone (1 diode burnt up inside). Have a temporary fix, and am thinking I need a voltmeter installed. Also think HD = POS. |

HD = POS. Unfortunately I'm feeling the same way right now. My X1 has let me down more times than I care to count. I'm going to ride up to Campbellville for 11:00, but I don't trust my bike to make it to Hockley Valley. Last thing I want is to get stranded up there. These bikes are like high maintenance women: great to have around, but they sure can be tempermental and bitchy! |
