The screw holding my old clutch switch snapped off in the lever housing. It was amazingly snug, requiring a dremel to cut a flat groove into the head after I rounded off the philips trying to get it out. Close to 40% of the screw is still inside the housing, and I see no way to get the rest out(it's too small for an ez-out, and the loc-tite caused the issue in the first place.) Can I run the bike without the switch? Any solutions aside from buying a new housing? Grrrr. Thanks, doods. | ||

03-07 bikes the switch is only a safety to prevent you from starting in gear. 08-10 bikes the switch will affect idle operation, including how easy it is to take off from a stop, and how quickly the RPMs dive when shifting, and some other things like also being a safety switch. All bikes can be operated fine without the switch, the 08+ bikes will just act a little funny. | ||

All that changes on the '08+ bikes is the idle speed. When the clutch switch is in the "clutch-disengaged" position the idle speed is a bit under 1000 rpm. In neutral or in gear. When the switch is in the "clutch engaged" position, the idle speed remains at about 1k rpm when in neutral, but rises about 200 rpm if you are in gear. | ||

Thx, Froggy. I took it for a spin around the block; it acted less funny without the switch hooked up. DOH! |
