I recently found a KT components exhaust, it only has 1 bracket to fit it, i believe it should have 2, does anybody know where I can find another one or have one to sell? Any thoughts about a rubber bushing to minimize vibration and future cracking? Should the system also secure to the Y shaped support higher up before the forward most bracket? It doesn't seem to line up perfectly when in place, which way round are the brackets designed to bolt to the bike, is this normal? If anyone has any installation instructions or advice it would be appreciated. I also noticed that one of the bolts on the head is spinning where the pipes join to the motor, tell me this doesn't mean pulling the head? thx |

I have no experience with KT mufflers but every <non-breaking> muffler design I have seen for these bikes has a front and rear mount. If either end is loose, your header studs will die early. My guess is you should at least McGuiver something up for the front end. Get to cutting on a pizza box to get something to look right and then transfer the pattern to metal. (cardboard exhaust clamps don't last very long and the pizza cheese smells weird) |

The bolt on the head is an exhaust stud that has loosened up. You need to tighten it in the head while the exhaust is off, make sure to check the others as well. If it's loose though, I'd replace it with a new one since they are cheap. I wouldn't worrie too much about replace any that are not loose though. |

Can hardly call the KT a "muffler" as it is pretty much a straight through drag pipe IIRC. Reg Kittrelle had one on his S-1 years ago and it was LOUD! (Message edited by firemanjim on December 08, 2014) |

Kc, Thanks for the repost. I can say now a year later, I still love the exhaust. I tried two different baffles over the summer and ended up opting for the original "loud" one. It's just so sweet sounding and makes riding the bike a load of fun. If you have not seen it, here is a video I made of a drive by on my bike with the exhaust at WOT. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnsKDm_B018 |
