10W30 will NOT be good for the primary (trans) case!!!! I used Mobil 1 Gear Lube in the primary (trans) case. But I recently switched to Amsoil 75W90 gear lube. I found that pricing is a little better. |

Mobile One V twin 20-50 is formulated for wet clutch. I use it, it has worked perfectly for me. |

There are NO problems with using Mobil 1 motor oil in the tranny - in fact they work extremely well. 10w-30, however, may be too light - most use 15w-50. Mobil 1 motor oil is also rated as a GL-4 gear oil. It is the GL-5 gear oils (regardless of brand, unless specified by the mfg) you should avoid in the tranny. |

Mobile1 synthetic should never be used in the Buell transmission, unless it is designated V-twin mobile 1 20/50. The problem is pure synthetic oil does not let the clutch and shifting drum and shift forks function properly. Usually the clutch starts to slip, and the shift drum stops making a complete role for a shift, like stuck in the same gear after a shift. And 10w/30 is far to thin for the shear that is involved in meshing gears on a motorcycle. Unless it has the shear additives added into the oil. |
