Put a new EBR ECM with KEDA RT-3 two days ago. After reset took bike for a ride and it was like riding a brand new bike. Even though it was wicked cold I had the biggest grin. Now this morning was going to ride since the temp was at least high 40s. The bike won't kick over now. It just winds up and the battery light comes on. Please help. |

I couldn't mess with the bike this morning because I was late for an adopt a spot event my flight was doing outside the King street gate at Langley AFB. Just got back and lo and behold the bike started right off. Dean replied to an email I sent him saying it might have been something to do with the sprag clutch. I got no idea. Now its time to go for a ride. Temp is 50 degrees here in this part of VA. |

You're POL and a Buell owner, how do we not know each other? v/r MSgt Sean Schuster |

Quote" wicked cold" make sure you keep the battery on a tender. At a minimum clean the battery terminal's and frame grounds put dielectric grease on them.I think your starter etc... Is find. Cold = slow electrons |

How old is the battery? Is it the OEM battery? I had the same problem with mine after leaving it in the cold below 40ish overnight repeatedly. I finally broke down and replaced the OEM 220 CCA battery with a new Yausa YB12Ss 240CCA Battery. I also put a small space heater in my garage that keeps the temp around 50sih. I fine tuned all the frame grounds including an addition of one to the Ignition Coil from the frame ground. That was three years ago and haven't a problem since. I periodically have to tighten all battery and ground connections but that goes with the territory as the Buell vibratations require that one does that regularly. Hope this helps. |

It is indeed the cold weather. Any time I try to start the bike in below 40 degree temp she does not crank over. The bike is not garage kept, I do however keep her covered at all times with a Guardian cover. Guess i'll just have to pull the battery and keep it on a tender if the weather in VA gets as bad as it did last year. |

When trying to start in the cold, does it sound like it is cranking, or does the starter just make a whirring noise? If the latter, it is your sprang clutch. My 09 does that sometimes below 30°F, but the bike starts after a few tries so I have not bothered to get it fixed. If it is cranking but cranking weak, it likely is the battery. |
