It looks like the lightest. To me it looks under engineered. Thats typical of the Indians (dothead not feather). They have infiltrated our engineering department and now our product routinely breaks in the field. Management likes it because our product only lasts 5 years instead of 50. Drives sales up....i guess thats another thread. Rant finished. | ||

I was referring to the styling, not the potential. In general SuperSport styled motorcycles are perceived to be toys. Upright ergo's and decent storage would make the bike more useful. That hardly fit's US motorcycle culture though, does it? | ||

If Erik and team were involved in the engineering, I'm willing to bet it is not under engineered. I think it looks a world better than the typical Bajaj you see running around in SE Asia. Motorcycles from India are typically more tailored to life in SE Asia, where 40 KPH over pothole dotted roads is fairly standard, than flying down I-5 at 80 MPH. I wonder if the US bikes will have different suspension and gearing. I think most people who are looking for a small displacement bike are probably more commute-minded, and would appreciate a more upright feel. | ||

^ Note it has an under-engine muffler just like other Buell/EBR bikes. My guess is the under-tail unit is just a secondary resonator (like the 1190's) or possibly just a straight pipe. Whatever it is, I'm sure the whole thing weighs less and is far more mass-centralized than that monstrosity hanging off the side of the Honda in the picture above. | ||

I see it working in a few markets but in the US it will be over looked in favor of the KTM and R3. EBR/HERO really missed an important opportunity for a spec race championship with MotoAmerica. | ||

I also think it's wise of EBR to have a quality entry-level bike in the 250 class. I'm at an age where my son, and his friends are new riders. The Kawasaki Ninja 250 is a reasonably-priced offering that works for them... With plenty in the market, a used model is reasonably priced, can be ridden for a year or two, and then resold/traded when a larger bike is needed. Brand loyalty starts early, and just as kids that learn on a Ninja are more likely to stay with the mark, the same may (hopefully) be said of EBR's offering... | ||

Hopefully the production model is a bit better than the prototype I checked out and sat on at the AIM Expo. Parts of the bike are brilliant, but some are.....unfinished. | ||
