The PMs on my s2 are very oxidized. The bike sat for years uncovered in a damp, old garage in Charleston, SC prior to me buying it; there was probably a little salt in the air, with that being a coastal city, which probably made matters worse. I tried Wenol metal polish, which helped, but really didn't bring them out. I have ordered some White Diamond polish to try as well. I am about to put new tires on and want to pull the rotors/pulley off and try to get polish them out. I need suggestions on how best to do it! |

use gorilla tape over the bearings, start by lightly wet sanding with 1500 or 2000 grit and polish after that. |

Owners manual calls for mothers. Try it with one of their power balls before you resort to sandpaper. It works really well. |

I just polished a set of these... They were in rough shape when I started and wasn't sure what the best route was going to be. The multi stage sanding is probably the only way to get them perfect but wasn't ready to dig in quit that deep. I tried a few things then ended up with a head light restorer kit, the one with the wool buffing wheel, not just the small pad. I used the wool wheel in the drill with a light to medium scratch level of rubbing compound... About an hour per wheel.... Or so.... But really brought them back!! |

I've done a lot of uncoated auto aluminum wheels, and had excellent luck with Mothers on a power pad of some sort. But you have to keep after it or the tarnish will come right back. Either that or get them powdercoated with clear once you polish them...? |

Joe I clear coated my PM wheels I emphatically do NOT recommend doing that Pm wheels Flex more than Cast wheels. What happens is the coating cracks water works in under the plastic and corrodes the wheels, badly. I spent weeks preparing and hundreds of dollars coating my wheels, about 2 years after it was done I noticed grey spots under the plastic, a couple of years later I had to strip them and re-polish them, also note that brake dust draws moisture and damages the wheels if allowed to sit. sorry it seemed like a great fix at first. face it PM wheels = polish me I also recommend Mothers polish and a power applicator. |

Anyone ever use 0000 steel wool for polishing aluminum? |

Biker, I do, it works great for hard oxidation. I use the wool then semichrome to finish. You will use a lot of wool and it will make one hell of a mess so keep a shop vac handy. |

I use NEVR-DULL on my PM wheels. Works really well, think it is made by EAGLE ONE now. |

Is simichrome usually available at Advance, AutoZone, NAPA, or O'Reilly's? |

A local Harley guy suggests Colonel Brassy polish. Anyone have any experience with that? |
