Jim- I have a Jeep with a class two hitch and a trailer that wont haul 5,000 lbs... I am however very close to Riverside (the city) and in Riverside (the county), and does it need to be hauled far and can it be taken apart? Let me know if I can help! |

Damn-two nations separated by a common language. Still that translates into a fair amount of REAL money. Then again ours is starting to look like it was made by Milton-Bradly too. |

Jim how soon are you talking? I will be in San Diego from Wednesday on. I have a Nissan Titan with a towbumper rated at 5600lbs and a capacity of 9600lbs. My trailer however is only rated at 3500lbs so that wouldn't work. |

Wycked, Do not, I repeat DO NOT attempt to put over 2000 pounds on a bumper hitch!! You need a receiver hitch to do that. Otherwise you are going to be buying a new bumper from Nissan. |

If it breaks, Nissan has to replace it under warrenty. Its one of the design upgrades of the Titan. If you get the chance to look at the Titan, do so, you will be very suprised. |

Wycked, you might want to re-read your warranty. My wife just bought a new Frontier. Awesome truck but they specifically state you must have the proper hitch to tow. A bumper hitch is not the proper hitch BTW. You need a receiver hitch which attaches to the frame. Bumpers are made to absorb crash impacts, not tow trailers. |

page 9-23: w/o tow package: 7400lb (3,357 kg) I will call Nissan again since that is countering even what the Parts department informed me, Parts told me it was rated at 5600lbs "per the manual" I mean how often does the parts department at a dealership talk you out of adding a classIII receiver hitch? |

Just drive around town and start looking at trucks rear bumpers. You will be surprised at how many bumpers you see are bent downwards from people trying to tow using their bumpers instead of a proper receiver hitch. The brackets that attach the bumper to the frames are usually just a piece of stamped sheet metal. Go ahead and look under your truck and see what the brackets look like. My wifes Frontier bumper wouldn't tow 1000lbs IMO even thought the book says it can handle 3500. |

Had an interesting glitch on the S-2 yesterday.Went for a ride and was pulling into a parking lot and noticed the right turn signal suddenly did not work,no big deal--right.Come out and start bike, drive about 2 blocks and suddenly dies.No click from starter,no horn, but the lights are still on.Checked all connections etc, then called my son to come and get me.Pulled all the bodywork off and started checking battery, circuit breakers, connections, etc.Still nothing, then I got a brainstorm(yeah right)and stuck on another ignition switch ,bam--- everything back to normal. How weird is that, lights, but no horn or turn signals???

Jim, I had a weird one on mine, too. Full lock right, backing out of the driveway one day, the dash lights went out. Turn the bars back, everything works. I was late for work, so off I went. Riding home, hit a bump, lights went out again. Took a while, fiddling with wires, to find a loose connection under the fairing - turning the bars right would pull on it just enough to cut the juice. Can't help you on the 6 speed - but I do try and shift into 6th every now and then on mine |

Why is the Wheels, tires, and brakes section closed to new posts? Is there another area I can post this in? |

Wycked, Just bought the wifey a Nissan Armada, same basic chassis as the Titan, but with independent rear. With the tow package which usually consists of a wiring harness, tow hitch (class 111),and a tranny cooler, its rated at 9600 lbs.. Car manufacturers are a bit optimistic when it comes to tow ratings. Much like bike manufacturers do with published bike weights. I towed a 7000lb. camper to Florida with it and I wouldn't recommend much more than that. It pulls with plenty of power but with a big gust of a passing truck I was getting a little sway happening, even with equalizers and sway control. Firemanjim, With my limited knowledge of trannies, I believe that when in top gear or 1:1 ratio most trannies are driving thru a different combo of mainshaft and countershaft and thereby may indicate where there is a problem or not. Countershaft is not always engaged? I have forgotten if the cluster gear on my old Muncie trannies were engaged in fourth or just in the lower gears. Anyways, what I am trying to say is, bearing problem in one shaft or the other, or maybe just different sound of different shafts spinning. Others can clarify my thinking out loud. SteveH |

Firemanjim, Another possibility would be that 6th is a straight cut gear and is just noisier. No experience with the Baker. SteveH |
