My rear caliper froze (again) so this time I decided to replace the non-rebuildable OEM caliper with a rebuildable Brembo. After much (way too much) research, I determined that a Brembo P32G is virtually identical to the OEM (see pic 1). The mounting holes look smaller in the picture but they aren't. Note that with Brembo calipers, you can swap the position of the banjo bolt and the bleeder valve. I decided to share what I've done to save you guys the pain. I found a brand new Brembo P32G on ebay for fifty bucks. I had to do two very simple things to make it a perfect fit: 1. I installed 1.5mm shims (see pic 2, green arrows - common M8 stainless washers) so the new Brembo is exactly centered over the rotor. This alignment is critical for a fixed caliper so double check yours (mine is perfect with 1.5mm shims), and 2. The stock brake line matches up perfectly (see pic 3) but the OEM uses a banjo bolt with a normal thread pitch and Brembo uses a fine thread so you can't reuse the banjo bolt you have. I had one with fine threads in my parts bin. The bleeder valve on the Brembo is on the bottom of the caliper when it is installed as opposed to the top of the caliper where it should be. This is really the only very minor functional difference. I just connected the plumbing and turned it upside down so the bleeder was on top, bled the caliper then turned it right side up (bleeder valve down) and installed it (it was actually easier doing it this way than bleeding it in place as you would normally). I hope you benefit from my experience.

My rear caliper froze (again) so this time I decided to replace the non-rebuildable OEM Nissin caliper The OE rear caliper on 1125's is NOT a Nissin. The front, however, is indeed a Nissin... 1313 |

Removed references to Nissin in first post. FYI, The ebay seller from whom I purchased the caliper still has new ones for sale and still for fifty bucks. Do a search for p32g and you'll find them. |

Funny, the rebuild kit is twice the price of the caliper |

Thank you! My rear has been dragging even after my best attempt at cleaning it. This is my next mod. |

S100 to clean wheels and rotor. Works on just about ANY type of dirt and grim build up. Rinse, spray on the S100 and wait one minute, rinse off. Agitate if necessary but not always needed. |

Fresnobuell, weird that the eBay listing is gone. When I looked earlier today they had six left. The eBay seller's id is ptlm347. You might try an eBay message. Hope it works out for you. (Message edited by pwillikers on November 05, 2014) |

Attached is a pic of the ebay advertisement. Apparently all remaining calipers were sold yesterday. I wonder how many of those were sold to folks from here? Fresno, sorry you missed out. Nikoff is correct that these calipers are commonly used in many applications and there are many on ebay. The reason the research took so long is that Brembo uses many overloaded part numbers, depending upon the application, and trying to decipher the actual differences was tough. P32G seems to be the most universal part number. Regardless, most appear to have the same caliper body. If it looks close in the pictures, it will likely work. Again, you can swap the banjo bolt and the bleeder positions Good luck.

Is that the 84mm piston caliper? If so then I've seen some that look just like that one for the grom and other bikes. But they come with a bracket which we wouldn't need and they were around $60 |

How does the Brembo caliper affect rear braking performance? Any improvement? If so, what pads are being used? |

The ones on ebay come with pads. I assume they're Brembo pads but I've not verified. $40 is excellent! Good for you guys. I'd say the performance of the Brembo caliper is unchanged from OEM. In other words, weak, but that's the way it should be. (Message edited by pwillikers on November 07, 2014) |

On a side note, what's not rebuildable about the stock caliper? No seals available? Also, is it necessary to use washers to get the caliper centered? It's a non-sliding caliper, sure, but the pistons themselves slide and should equalize pressure even if the caliper is slightly skewed. |

Got it! Came with pads, so what a deal Bought it as a spare, will probably install when these pads are used up (hmm, have to sell my spare pads now) (Message edited by sprintst on November 09, 2014) |

Are these calipers compatible with the stock pads? If I swap out the caliper, I'll probably opt for some better pads--as much as I like the idea of swapping in Brembo parts, I'd want to improve rear brake stopping power too. |

No, the OEM pads are totally different from the Brembo pads. I'm certain there are tons of aftermarket pads for the Brembo caliper of varying compounds. I've not bothered to research the part numbers since I'll probably never need pads. I don't use the rear brake much. |
