So, I've only noticed it on the race bike. And someone has probably already asked, but what's the big chunk of aluminum under the seat? Fuel cell?

Auxiliary fuel tank. The in-frame fuel reservoir doesn't provide enough capacity for a typical WSBK race.

wow... no idea they went through that much fuel that fast.

Follow up question the 1125R had a 5.6gal capacity and the 1190 drops to 4.5gal Did the frame dimensions change that much? a gallon seems like a lot of volume to lose.

The airbox is significantly larger on the 1190, which took away some frametank volume.

The frame is smaller on the outside up high right about where the bars almost touch at full lock each way. Looking to lower the cg along with the over all weight I guess. Easy to see when you park an 1125 next to an 1190. Also how much smaller the 1190 appears than the 1125. And most of the parts not on the engine that look the same actually are not. Haven't truly found out yet but looks to be about 120 miles to the reserve light and maybe 30 more till you start pushing.

Correction: At the horsepower levels the engines are tuned there is not enough fuel for a typical WSBK Race.

I actually wish they would not allow the additional fuel capacity and race on the 4.5 gallons the bikes come from the factory with.

I think the longest circuit is Sepang at nearly 3.5 miles and 16 laps and more than a few of them are on fumes in less than 60 miles!?!?! Really!?!?
