I'm considering getting the SX but wondering if 2015 model might have upgrades worth waiting for? |

The 2015 models are already at the dealers, the only difference is the clutch actuator, the 2015 version is easier to pull. A retrofit kit is available from EBR to put it on the 2014 models if desired. |

I would love one but right now I have trouble rubbing two nickels together. It'll be a while before I can afford a new bike. Too many other necessities ahead of that. |

Nice color combo. Anybody know if the SX will be offered with wheel color choices? Always like the XB's with the trans airbox and different colored wheels! |

Regarding changes, one item from the aftermarket that I think would look good and benefit the riding experience of the SX is a Headlight Fairing similar to the Rizoma piece on this FZ-09 as seen in Cycle World's November issue and here: Cycle World claims "much improved comfort on the highway" on the FZ-09. Should provide about the same wind protection as the little fairing on a S1 or X1, I'd imagine. Looks cool too. |

Here's a quote from the "sport touring on an SX" thread:
quote:At the EBR tent today, an EBR guy told me in the not too distant future they would be releasing a windscreen and soft bags for the SX.

I think the SX with a race exhaust, some Hepco bags and a small fly screen would be great. I would also change the rear sprocket to one with 2 or 3 more teeth. I don't need to go 70 in first gear and I like to do wheelies |

I'm half wondering if that's not why they decided to delay the AX. After looking at the big picture, the SX with owner mods (supported by aftermarket suppliers) was going to be 80% AX, with none of the hassle for a small engineering team. So set the SX free, and let the aftermarket have a go. New bars, new seat, and luggage and you have the AX most people wanted. Then reboot the AX platform into something that we don't know we want, but really really do. Let KTM aim for the things we say we want, but won't really like (like a hypersport adventure tourer...) |

into something that we don't know we want, but really really do Sounds like my wife shopping.... "I didn't know I needed it until I saw it" If it works for her.... It should work for me! |

Actually Wolf, with your DR, you are probably one of the people that may actually have an idea what we really want... |

....and the DR just keeps getting better. Just ordered a custom built FCR-MX pumper carb. "Should" make it a smoother ride and put a little more pep in the step. see link for write up http://mxrob.com/mxrob_007.htm (Message edited by wolfridgerider on October 28, 2014) |

There was an interesting discussion at ebrforum.com in the AX sub-forum about what the AX "should" be. One poster is adamant that nobody has built a "real" adventure bike yet, including BMW, KTM and other builders that are considered more serious than Buell was with the Uly. If Court's hints are any indication, the AX may be right up his alley. |

I have a strong suspicion the AX won't be an 1190 at all. |

Maybe it'll be a 300 hp electric bike with solar collectors for plastic. The eco adventure. Or maybe a two wheel drive Cummins powered turbo diesel. The anti eco adventure... |

Every time I get off my Uly (1200 CC 100 HP) and onto my KDX-200 (225 CC and 37 HP in Kawasaki's dreams), I'm amazed at how "fast" a 225 cc bike can be. It's not really, but when your universe goes from at most 0 to 60 mph (and most often, 0 to 30mph), a geared down dirt bike that weighs 230 pounds is just stupid fun and stupid fast. I love the idea of the SX, I'm glad it exists. But 75 HP 300 pound bike that is sporty and comfy on the street, serviceable off road, and that I can get with luggage for $8000 would have me at the bank by noon. |

A shot was also posted saying the AX would be revealed at AIMExpo.... Because everything you read on the internet is true. As far as my understanding goes. Given the caliber of EBR's engineering capabilities, if they were merely producing another 1190 variant it would most likely already be done. I have read on multiple occasions and have myself deduced that the AX will at its core be a different motorbike all together. Or it could just be an 1190sx with even less fairings an extra 4 inches of ground clearance and a 19in front rim LOL. Im down for whatever. I just want to see the damn thing. |

It could be possible that the AX utilizes the 1190 engine but nothing else from the SX or RX. Designing a new frame with different geometry would take a little bit longer. |

Several people here, some of whom could know, have strongly implied the AX will not use the 1190 engine. |

It's still on the EBR AU site. If it's a mistake, they're really committed to it. http://www.erikbuellracing.com.au/1190ax/ |

I would like to have a sit down with whoever is in charge of the EBR website. This 1190AX page is probably a typo that should never have been overlooked. Also, they need to update the site with the 2015 bikes. Any manufacture site I've visited lately already has their sites up with 2015 bikes. It's the little things. If they are waiting to launch because of wanting to include the new accessories, they're in the wrong. |
